Lightmalls Has XM-L2, P60 Drop-in

I noticed today that FastTech has added an Ultrafire P60 XM-L2 drop-in, although it's 5 mode. Only $10.89. Specs say 2A output.

Updated/edited my previous post. Maybe not so encouraging now…
Ill post more results/measurements about the driver later on. But basically, it seems to go out of regulation below 4,1V.
I also plan to post some results on the XM-L2… Just need to do more testing. Ill make a thread about it.

Thanks for the information RaceR86. You will be on your 2nd or 3rd one by the time mine shows up from KD. I am planning on getting a 3 or 5 mode if this works for me. I hope to learn where to buy my next one with the best driver.

Ah, I see. I look forward to it.

Ill post what I have now. Not sure if/when I will do more. This is basically what I had earlier.
Its only tailcap measurements… Nothing on the LED. But it shows the behavior.

While im at it, ill share some measurements on XM-L2 in combination with the high output Manafont driver.
I know XM-L had much of the same behavior, but I believe that on max voltage, the XM-L2 is about 0,2A higher (for a short time).

I hope to do some direct comparison tests. XM-L vs XM-L2 on that driver and on a linear driver current regulated driver around 3,5A. But not sure if/when it will be done. So until that time may or may not come, Ill just post some results here.

Battery voltage measured on the cell without load.

Let’s get back to basics; How impressed will a non-flashie be who is coming off an XM-L T6 in a P60? Is the output of this one (stock) “wow-ish” better?

I would say, no. (But that would depend on how low/hard the XM-L T6 P60 was driven  )
People are better off with the intl-outdoor 2,8A XM-L U3 in my opinion. More mode options too.

Garry…look at it again. There is a pull down option for 1, 3.6-18V and 5 mode…perhaps the second choice should be 3 mode?

Choices from fasttech are:
1-mode XP-G R5 (3,3-18V input voltage. 1A output)
5-mode XP-G R5 (3,6-18V input voltage. 1A output)
5-mode XM-L2 (3-4.3V most likely. 2A output)

At least that is what the specs says. The numbers inside the parenthesis I would take with a pinch of salt just to be safe.

Nice, about 8W input once in regulation. I suspect 6.5W or more output, so…
Looks like the “3-18V” driver would be a good match with XP-G2 with or without a SinkPAD (but better with the latter, obviously) or XP-E2 on a SinkPAD.

Not sure if this is the same as the drop-in from lightmalls, but here is the one I got from KD

3.6-18V driver.

Inside pill

Looks like the holes was drilled, but all the small bits of material from the pill was left inside it, right above the driver circuit. All those small particles were loose. Not impressed by that…Picture does not even show half of them.

i ordered one from FT (XM-L2 2A) fingers crossed it will be brighter than my SF 3-mode XM-L T6-3C…

Well it only took 30 days to get here from KD. Installed it in my Surefire and it seems to work great. I got the single mode I would like to get a 3 mode ver. as well. Also looking for a nice quality body to put it in. I use 16650s in the Surefire but 18650 would be ok. I would appreciate any suggestions on what and where to buy. KD took their time LOL. Thanks for all the help and info.

Anyone find an XM-L2 3 mode direct drive on high yet?
