Z’Light SC62. Relatively compact, good runtime, good output and very dependable. I’ve had it for about 10 years. Mostly in my glove box.![]()
Ugh. At this moment I have never used AA cells, bought in bulk in those Costco packages, showing small signs of fuzz.
“Good before 2030” my azz.
This follows a package of never used Rayovac Cs that puked inside their package.
The MiniMags were sacrificed at the altar of the Energizer god.
So it’s not just one brand.
if you bought at costco take back, they will refund as they are warranted for 12 years.
Contact RayoVac customer service and they will replace the batteries and what it destroyed. (I have had very good results with them if you are nice and polite.)
believe it or not…
the under-the-seat flashlight in our 1999 Sienna is an 2-D cell LED Maglite.
it is on its 4th set of batteries. never leaked (D cells do better than the others for me).
no problems with it so far. actually needed it twice. worked wonderfully. 26 years and counting.
Would you consider CR123A battery flashlights? I heard they have a shelf life of 10 years and seemingly are good for emergencies you can throw them in your car and forget about it, right? Also eneloops are supposed to be less likely to leak than standard primaries. Never tested though.
