LoneWolf MC9, nice heat dissipation to ensure long-life high brightness

If you can forward this message to the guy who makes those and assuming he cares,

I’d like to see an Cree Xhp70.3 4000k high Cri (I’m not worried about tint shift green, my convoy m21f with this same led is beautiful not that green of a tint) option in the Md70,

with that same constant current driver driven at up to 8 amps for turbo. Temperature set for 55 or so degrees not 70

Also I like the size and heat sink on that Md70 but do not want the whole body to be covered in fins, instead would like to see aggressive knurling, not decorative but pretty aggressive, slightly more than what Zebralight does on their lights, all the way down even on the tail cap.

Instead of fins all over

And people do like having multiple color options

Ask Marco over at 1Lumen.com if he’s interested. The 4*21700 is pretty bonkers and you’d need a good buck driver for 4S input, but with a xhp70.3 HI or HD on 12 volts, the sustained output would be pretty awesome, even on 3x21700. For $48, ifnit really can maintain that output, it qould be a strong contender.

The single cell light looks good too. For the LED, that is a good choice, but please offer it in 5000K and 6500K. The SFT42-R is also a good LED. The only advantage over the SFT40 is you can drive it harder more easy and it’s a bit newer design with different phosphor. The round LES also improves the beam in primary optics (reflectors).

Do note that we haven’t seen an LHP73B driven in 6V yes.

A 6V emitter has slightly higher system efficiency.

I still want those emitters since in LHP73B variant, that emitter doesn’t actually have worse candela per lumen.

Some folks such as @Haukkeli have modded their PCB to drive the LHP73B in 6V, and I’ve had success with the same mod. It is possible that the LHP73B rivals the XHP70.3 in cd/lm as the latter has a thick, diffusive silicone cover that loses some intensity via sideways emission. My guess would still be that the XHP70.3 achieves definitively higher intensity, if one could “dice” it the same way they did with XHP70.2’s, to remove the diffusive material.

The tail button is used to activate the power supply. And the side chain is used to adjust the brightness. I will shoot a video on Thursday.

I talke with Mr Chen today about SFT42R, it is 30W chip and more bright.
But for this size light body, it will get hot very soon. Thus he thinks that SFT40 is a better choice. If design a bigger body, we can use SFT42R.


Left is SFT40 and right is SFT42R, 42R is definitely more bright, but it get very very hot in 30 seconds.


For 70.2, 6500K and 5000K can be choose. 5500 lumen.
For 70.3, only 6500k available. 5000 lumen.
Voltage reduction constant curren, if you add the extension tube, you can use 4 21700 battery.
There is a SFT90 light in preparation.

I know them, but haven’t contacted. And LoneWolf is a new brand, in fact we have little marketing budget. But we are glad to send our lights to be tested.

For MD70, if use 4 21700 batteries, the runtime is awesome.
For MC9, only 6500K available.

Can a 6V LHP73B emitter be used?

The lights look really nice! I like lights that focus on sustained performance instead of 30s peak values for the specsheet. And tbh, the large cooling surface looks good imo. No idea why people call them ugly!

Out of curiosity: are you sourcing parts from Pioneman? The side switch looks very similar to the switch used by Convoy, who seems to use Pioneman as their OEM.

I know Pioneman and in fact that Pioneman offer OEM service for lot of brands.
But LoneWoft is not oemed by Pioneman, its factory is located in Hunan. The body and drivered are designed by Mr Chen.

They look really good! For an affordable high output new brand that’s not Nightwatch, Sofirn, Wurkkos, or Convoy. The Anduril2 version is appealing. You might have something special here.

Is the MD70 driver a 3V buck driver?

Did he use a more powerful driver for SFT42R?
