Looking for a AAA keychain light

True. The Nitecore T5s head is mounted to a threaded brass barrel that turns into the body smoothly.

My vote also goes for LD01.Keep in mind that titanium and ss lights tend to have more friction in the threads and do not twist as smoothly as the aluminum ones.

I’m still strongly leaning towards an LD01. Also looked a few other lights of interest. Might end up buying 2 new AAA keychain lights and moving my preon to a different duty. Can never have too many lights right?

I pulled the trigger on a Olight i3s in gold from ebay. Read a lot of good reviews on the light and it has an updated emitter, for the price I had to try it out. I’ll be placing an order in a few months with fenix tactical for flashlight handlebar mounts so maybe another LD01 is in my future. Looking forward to testing the i3s

I was thinking of buying the nitecore T5, but ended up with the ES12 from Tank007.

The Tank007 is good enough for my needs. but mine arrived cosmetically damaged.

I too looked at the T5 but decided against it. I was also looking at what was easier to get into the country for a reasonable price. Some options looked good until I looked at the price, for a AAA keychain light I didn’t want to spend close to $100. Bought a i3s off ebay shipped for under $25.

I like my (red) Black Cat from DX. It has great throw for such a slim light. It was cheaper from KD, but did not work out of the box and was hard to fix. I am not the only one to have trouble with this light from KD, so I don’t recommend that source unless you like projects. KD did compensate me adequately, so I recommend their support.

Bright, and under $3, but only 1 mode, which is pretty high (~60 lumens?). Build quality is pretty thin aluminum. Not likely to last with rough handling.

The light was delivered a long time ago, but yesterday my 10440 arrived. So I was sitting on the couch with my girlfriend and put the 10440’s in. Didn’t expect them to be charged and totally blinded my girlfriend for a few seconds….oops…….

This thing is ubelivebly bright for its size. It’s nice and lightweight and has a really good finish. Only thing is it came with a gigantic colour difference between head and body, which I think is very annoying and not what to expect for a light in this price range. Other then that, I’m one happy camper!

Liions are normally shipped around 3.7v, enough to provide power to your light, but charging to 4.2v will give you better output.

I thought of the X3 by SolarForce but it is a single mode light. I personally prefer clicky switches so I would say the Lumintop Tool but I don’t believe there is a SS or Ti version of it. The Lumintop Worm in the other hand is offered not only in a variety of anodized aluminium colors but in copper (not sure) and SS. Only two modes but no PWM.

I just recently got a INCREDIBLY bright single mode XP-G keychain light

The DarkVim SK-C30

Almost exactly the same size as the Maglite Solitaire but with the boost circuit and running an XP-G, same type twisty head and everything…unlike the Solitaire however it has battery
isolation when you loosen the head, and on when you tighten.

The thing is incredibly bright, for something of it’s size

My Solitaire is a mm. narrower but several longer than the dimensions listed in the link above.

I wonder if the O.P. ever did get another LD01?

WarHawk-AVG,

what’s the actual runtime on the DarkVim SK-C30? Close to the spec (1.5-2hr)?

For an occasional use keychain light, you just can’t beat any of the DQG 10180 cell lights especially the titanium versions. So tiny and light you barely notice it’s on your keychain.

Of course they’re a little pricey and won’t have the runtime of an AAA but it will last long enough to be useful. Anyway, cnqualitygoods sells a battery carrier that’s smaller than the light itself and also could be carried on your keychain and hardly noticeable and have a back-up.

I’ve been carrying one on my keychain for months and it’s come in handy many times.
