I like the way your thinking.
you said “The light will be used as a short burst flood light”
well most folks will say that the MT-G2 is a more floody emitter.
I have found the TK35 clone(s) to be an excellent floody host for MT-G2 lights. They are built 2x18650 in series so it is really just an emitter swap and boy are they floody and tough uses a C8 sized reflector and lens so you have lens options (the reflector is built with its own “pill” so it is a keeper. If it is not floody enough you can also add DC-Fix and run fancy IMR cells.
search for TK35 clone BLF TK-35 clone and there are threads with how to mod and a list of all the part numbers they are sold under, if you go direct drive (like I do to keep it simple) then you can also try other battery configurations (it is really hard to kill an MT-G2 using batteries.)
OL’s TK-35 clone
I also recently found a SAIK SA-305 recently, (OL’s first of three parts, video just to bring back memories) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on-52LtDdtg
My recent idea (I have one coming) is to use three 14500 in series in the SAIK SA-305 to run an XHP70 for short blasts.
