Target distance is cca 600 meters, and on that target distance I need to recognize weather it is a man there or not… Thats requirement for throw…
SO it doesnt need to be 1km (maybe 0,25lux at 1km, I dont know, but 0,25lux is really low illumination and t woulkd be hard to recognize something.
Also, its not important would I watch at that target distance with naked eye or binoculars or something (I would use binoculars if needed)
One experienced member told me via PM
I understand that…
I dont have much time, unfortunatelly (and my skill in little more complicated mods is doubtful ) to build/mod something myself, so Im looking for ready-made solutions
I read that SR90 is about 115.000lux at one meter, so that would be 340 meters with 1 lux - not enough.
It apperasd I would need something with more than 300.000 lux@1m. sqrt adn thats close to 550 meters 1 lux. 600 meters is 360.000 lux, if Im looking for 1 lux illumination, hoping that this (1 lux) would be enough…
PPS: I wonder is it possible to mod some cheap handheld reflector, with XML, to have 200 or 300klux. I presume thats doubtful
Tnx, but thats far too expensive, in fact my budget is 150- max 200$ (maybe little more who knows)
As I said I dont know almost anything about HIDs etc, so I dont its possible to buy such thrower for this money…
To me, a HID is the best bet for what you want, but to get the reflector, it would have to be one of the big HID spotlights, not a flashlight. I am no longer up on this. I do not know what is out there, but I believe you EDIT: Probably can’t get a HID Spotlight from China within the $200 budget. EDIT: At least 50W HID or Short Arc to get that kind of range.
Isn’t it member 2100 that plays with a bunch of the HID lights?
I will have to do some searching tonight. I just wanted to reaffirm HID, not LED for that kind of distance.
I could ship that to you for $150. Not saying I would, just giving you an idea of cost. The batteries might pose a problem too. You must have a better local option.
Here’s the type of thing you might find searching for Chinese Spotlights under $200. The really good, dependable ones, all seem to be more like $1,00 to $3,000.
Do a search for HID Spotlight or 55w HID Spotlight and you can see many options.
there is the Thrunite TN31 $220usd, and can reach 600m @ .25lux, or the new olight sr95ut which can do 800m, but very pricy 400+,s o yea throw for cheap, HID is the way to go
Pretty sure the xeccon ssk-20s (aka 75W ebay HID (also available on aliexpress)) will roast that TK70. That’s probably your best bet. Should be able to spot a dude at 600m, provided you have little to no light pollution, clean air in between, a set of binoculars, and a bit of elevation. Might have better success if you do it as a 2-man crew: one person standing off at an angle so he’s not blinded by the spill.
edit this is the lancer 3500r
The fun starts at 38 seconds, when he starts lighting up buildings with it
I’m guessing the ebay one isn’t going to throw nearly as well.
Is the one shown in the video a 75W eBay hid? because those things have only a 70mm reflector and i dont think mine throws like the one shown in the video.
Nope. Might be that it’s 100 mm. Just a thread I read in cpf. There were no links there, either (for obvious reasons). You basically have to click through all the offerings.
Only other thing I can think of is something with an aspheric lens, or modding something, or a crapshoot with one of the other cheap spotlights that virtually nobody will know anything about. I think selbuilt at CPF had a compiled list of flashlights with luminous intensity measurements, and the beam ranges… but I haven’t been able to find it.
I think the skyray king was measured at 20 or maybe 55 kcd, which gets it out to 275 m (as measured by my gps using waypoints). I can tell you that at that distance, it cast a faint shadow on me for another 30 m, but the user couldn’t actually see me with the naked eye, though the car beside me was clearly visible due to the reflective surface. edit Mind you, this was in the city with street lamps. Street signs reflect brightly at 500+ meters.
You’d definitely need binos. At that distance it’s a different ballgame.
I can see a spot at 5km max with my 532nm. Without binos it’s just mashed up with the main beam.
My 400mW 532nm (measured about 1.6-1.8mRad) measured about 38 million cd, i had to do it at 45m in order not to overload the sensor. The sensor is a bit more sensitive at that wavelength but i am not sure how the conpensation curve looks like (what isotropic curve to the eyes or something). But yeah it can do 4km easily, 5km can do in clear conditions. At that distance, there is quite a bit of laser scattering going on already.
I haven’t measured my 100mW with a beam expander, which gives its a much better divergence at only 0.3mRad). It has higher beam intensity than the 400mW.
I sometimes use my 152mm refractor telescope at 32X mag as well (slightly over 4mm exit pupil, so more or less there as well for a somewhat dark adapted eye).
