Looking for the best under 20$ flashlight

Excellent run time.
So many good choices available.

Convoy M1. I love it. Depending on the configuration its between $19 and $22.

You should be able to find a decent sipik clone for less than $6. For what your using it for it’s more than enough and loaded with alkaline AA it’s good in hot or cold. Toss a spare battery in the glove compartment. Magnet tail would be nice though.

Thanks a lot!
I ordered the Romisen MXDL RC-G2 Cree
We will see how it performs.
I don’t really need a magnetic bottom because I already have one of these :

woops double-post

Did i read that right ??

88$ ??

Oh man ....Snap On should be ashamed of themselves for selling 5 mm lights for big money.

If You haven't bought 18650's and a charger yet it's time .any of the convoy lights

Yes I agree. I bought it a few years ago when I was working Auto Service.

Depends. Is it made in the USA to exacting standards and subject to rigorous quality control, or is it a $5 Chinese item they are just re-branding?

That is also true. I’m not sure where it is made as I don’t have it here with me. I used it on my birthday last year at night and it was on for over 6 hours continuously before eventually running out of juice.

Snap on doesn't sell any junk.. It's tools are to die for . their prices are always just crazy high . they know it,you know it and so does everyone on the planet . They make no apologies for their pricing .

their tools ? uhhh... ahhhh ..ohhhh mmmmm..

one of my favorite tools

I think you made a excellent choice for a flashlight to keep in the car, its robust and and takes AA’s so you can just leave it there without worry of monitoring lithium batteries often.

It was one of my first reviews (HERE) and probably the light that switched me to AA and AAA only lights as I started selling off all my 18650 lights shortly after buying the XP-G version. After that I bought about half a dozen or so XR-E ones from DX to give to friends and family.

Shiningbeam also has the XP-G2 version for $16.75 for USA customers but it works out about $25 shipped to Australia.

This Fenix MC-10 clone is a proven great light. A co-worker of mine has used his everyday for about 2 years now and he recently asked me to buy him another because he likes it so much.

I can’t think of a better light for working on a car. It has a powerful magnet in the tailcap that allows you to mount it to anything metal. The head angles so you can pin point the spot you need to light up. It is very bright on a AA. It has a low mode so you don’t blind yourself for map reading or up close work. It is $9.99 on EBay or $11.97 on DX. I recommend EBay over DX.

All that good stuff but there are a few cons. The beam is very throwy. This is well suited to being a work light so why make it such a thrower? Makes no sense to me. A piece of tape over the lens helps diffuse the beam, I used a piece of clear duct tape but that frosted Scotch tape works fine. The other con in my view is the third mode, strobe. Booooooo! This would be just fine with a high and low but they couldn’t help themselves and had to add a strobe. I guess in a roadside emergency the strobe could come in handy. You could stick it to your hood, trunk or roof and use it as a warning or signal light.

So, if you don’t plan on carrying it, this is one of the better 1-AA lights I know about in the $10-12 range. The quality is good and the preformance is good, very useful and unique light. It is a knock off of the Fenix so you are buying a copy but for 1/4th the price, it is a heck of a good light. Even after two years this light still is worth buying and very little even competes with it.

If you put a 14500 in that Rominsen RC-G2, it will get incredibly bright for a split second and then get incredibly dim forever. LOL!

Nice light but you are limited to AAs ONLY!!! I found out the hard way.

you must have not li-on cell for long time one car to hot on summer inside.

better with AA cels NI AH give couple $ more and take the starry light

a lot of great information.
Thanks a lot.
Last year when I originally registered, I went with the TechLite Lumen Master 1000 from Costco… that thing is ridiculous bright. I only changed the batteries yesterday.
This morning I got an e-mail saying my RC-G2 has shipped. Can’t wait to get it !

That made no sense.

I ignored that post because I couldn’t understand anything…

Hahahah, he wanted to say, that for a light you will have in the car, it’s better that it uses Nimh/alkalines instead of liion, which doesn’t cope with the heat so well.

Spend a few bucks more and buy the Starry Light.

Years of Chinglish.

I finally received the flash light and I love it. Thanks a lot for the suggestion. Was there a newer model of this ? (RC-G2)
Do you know a website that ships to Canada faster than dx ? It took up until now to receive it. I hate waiting this long to receive something.
