Lubricant for flashlight threads

Nyogel = liquid gold (for threads…you know…if gold was good for threads and all…)

Glad you like it.

Honestly, I think people that don’t recommend Nyogel or Superlube oil are people that have never tried Nyogel or Superlube oil. At the current prices and availability, there’s no reason not to.

I think I might order some of this thicker stuff that likes to hold on and resits wiping. The stuff I got on my Solarforce was like that. Almost tacky, not quite, but it stuck well. So thats Nyogel. That red ratchet grease mentioned might be good on a dive light.

Unless you want it to erode the o rings.

Some of us have a shelf full of various goops “all wonderful”. Anything that doesn’t melt the orings is likely better than nothing, but this pesky search for “whats best” will never end.

GROUP BUY! GROUP BUY! GROUP BUY!

Nyogel 760G is $6.50 shipped on ebay, not much hope for a lower price, but I would be game if the price is “good”.

25g offer at $13 but not stock. Hope they bring it back for us?

I bought mine here: http://www.batteryjunction.com/nyogel-760g.html - basically lifetime supply.

Is Nyogel so much better than Superlube or Superlube Oil? :)

I just use Remington gun oil. Spray some on a cloth and rub into the threads. I clean them whenever I use a light and just apply a little. It works fantastic on door hinges as well.

i don’t know about Superlube but i do know that the lubricant that came with my zebralight sc600 from the factory was thick and somehow less prone to dust and dirt (maybe that is my subjective opinion because when the flashlight is new out of the box it is used more carefully than old chipped and dented workhorse) anyway, if it is 6 $ shipped i guess i’ll take one

Yes.

Now i am convinced.

Good & Cheap !

Did you try it? after you feel the uber smoothness of the threads, you will be impressed

When my bottle of Superlube is used up, i'll definitely try it! :)

I know I will not be using superlube any more.

I have always seen it recommended here and have used it about a year and it works better than a lot of other crap but now that I’ve started selling flashlights I’ve got some minor complaints about the lube turning gray after just a week or two, I noticed it too but it wasn’t a big deal to me it apparently it is to other people, it’s not worth it to have unsatisfied customers.

I do still use superlube brand FDA approved for direct food contact oil on my knives but I’ll use the lube I have on machine threads and use nyogel from now on for flashlight threads.

No one product is best for all applications, some will work better than others, some will in some applications cause problems.

Some goop attracts dust, migrates, is too viscous (thick), isn’t viscous enough (thin), deteriorates orings, makes poor electrical connections, doesn’t prevent corrosion, or something else.

If in doubt use what the manufacturer uses.
