Currently Luxeon ES emitters on 20mm aluminium stars are selling for $2.50-$2.75/each. Likely not direct to path stars, but for under $3 I am happy with them.
It states that the regular price is usually around $10/each for these emitters, not sure if this is a real sale or just a temporary one.
I ordered (2) Deep red, (1) Cyan, (1) Royal blue, (1) cyan, and (1) amber for $16.00!. I also just ordere (3) Convoy C8 hosts and a few basic drivers from fasttech to have some fun with colorful emitters.
