Manufacturer removed my watermark...thoughts?

As a hobby photographer, I’ve read dozens of copyright infringement cases (that is what this is, regardless of who gave whom, what).

You need to register the images with the copyright office, then send a letter to the mfr for a fee.

Unless you like getting jabbed in the behind…

We’re talking about China here. They don’t recognize the us copyright law or anything else that involves intellectual property. If large corporations can’t sue them, what makes you think you could, over a photograph?

The government of China does recognize the US copyright laws. They have signed international agreements and conventions that require them to recognize the US laws, and they also have bilateral intellectual property agreements with the US. The difficulty of enforcing the US and China’s own laws in China’s courts, and in getting people in China and other countries to respect the US laws, is well known, but progress is being made on that now. Large corporations and ordinary citizens can sue and do.

On paper maybe. In real life they don’t. PRC gives everyone the middle finger. Otherwise they’d quit stealing US & Europe IP. Try suing them and see how far you’ll get.

Maybe you should ask them to delect photos which are belong to you first, that is a good way in case you misunderstand each other while communicating. Anyway, hope this problem will be solved very soon.

If I were you, I wouldn’t say China, as that is prejudice, but the people who don’t respect copywright. Let this forum be positive and healthy community, and it needs our effort.

This one is very helpful.

All your pix are belong to us !!

Suddenly recalled this old clip by one online photography educator 3yrs ago. Guess how much they eventually received from $60K settlement?
