Another asset to have is a Machinist Handbook, I have my father’s and mine from my apprenticeship. Extremely valuable info with in, if you want to machine things the right way! 
I have Emco Compact 5 hobby lathe with a vertical milling attachment, and although it is only 5x14”, I made a lot of things on it, flashlights and parts, RC moddeling stuff, gun parts, car and motorcycle parts… imagination is the only limit!
