Moonlight Mode Champions?

Fascinating info. I’m tempted to do this sometime later in the year.

I wonder if you consider the button light as a source?

I use the BLF SP36 on the bedside table with the button light set to low and pointed away from me so it bounces off the wall.
TK thinks this will run nearly as long as the battery self discharge. I have no idea what the output is.

With the button on high (significantly brighter) - It’s supposed to run for about a year.
If you set the lowest ramp something like 1Lm, 3x3400mAh SanyoGA’s should last a mighty long time.

The WOWTAC A4 V2 claims .5Lm for 208 days.

All the Best,
Jeff

I find 0.2 lumens problematically bright at night.

Well, as of 12.21pm Chicago time today, my Armytek Tiara has been running strong in moonlight mode for 10 straight days…only 50 days to go!

For fully night adapted eyes, the only one that doesn’t hurt if shined in my face is my RRT-01. I can get it dim enough that I can’t tell it’s on when looking directly at it, only to the side…

Loneoceans has just shown a boost driver that regulates current down to 500 nA.
With a 6V LED that translates to at most 0.0006 lm, several times lower than Manker E02.

I surely wouldn’t find any use for it but how about you, active members of this thread?

you could hardly even see the led when it was on, at that low a light, much less send it anywhere and see the reflection

i had a light that was .05 lumens, it was pretty useless

i would guess that .25 or .5, in a semi floody pattern, is about as dim as i can use
if it was in a tight beam maybe, but again it would be so small it would not light anything

My personal faves…
4Sevens quark AAT. I modded it with a neutral tint XPG3. Unfortunately this brightened its low-low mode a bit, but its still totally service-able in this role.

+infinity on the Zebralight recommendation. I have had a AA H501 for over a decade with a very useful flood beam low-low. I also have a TH20 headlamp which also has a nice low-low mode. Love the infinite ramping output UI on this one.

I will stay with my .04 sc700 d zebralight, .05 on my sc64le and slightly brighter .06 0r 07 sc64w hi.
