Most powerful UVC flashlight?

The only thing 222nm has going for it is that it’s a lot safer to run with humans in the room. But it is going to rely on airflow past the bulbs. And it needs to be fairly close to the bulbs. And they are aimed at dealing with things in the air not on surfaces. Put a 254 NM bulb in an enclosed box with a fan blowing air through and it will work a whole lot better. There are already bulb mounts to be able to cut into air duct systems for heating and cooling. That way you’re passing air from the whole building past the bulb on a somewhat regular basis. The bulb is wired to only be on with the fan. That seems like the best way to deal with “air” issues for buildings with air ducts. It would reduce the spread of various airborne molds also.

FWIW I used to work in a production facility that would run mercury lamps in the ENTIRE ROOM overnight to sanitize surfaces.

We use Hg lamps to sanitize laminar flow isolation hoods too. IIRC mold is relatively resistant to UV inactivation due to the tough cell wall but it will eventually work.

Sanitizing UV arrays have become a big thing since C19, but the emitters are still pretty pricey and don’t make much light for what you put into them. They’re also generally very sensitive to heat buildup , so you’ve got the double whammy of low efficiency (most of the energy going in just makes heat) and heat sensitivity.

I think most of you folks would already have watched this before……but just in case.

Wow that’s super cool

Yep, that's awesome and very dangerous.

It's not dangerous to watch on YouTube, though.
