Good points!
To avoid junk, I generally used to cringe and pay for Fluke branded stuff (love their silicone leads).
I knew enough to pay attention and avoid the Flook, Flookie or Flukie ones in the past, but it seems that lately there has been a proliferation of outright fraudulent Fluke branded counterfeit stuff on the internets.
If one wants to save a few bucks and is willing to take a chance on buying from someone who is not an officially authorized Fluke dealer, there are some bargains out there. I’ve had good luck lately in only buying from eBay sellers with at least a year’s worth of history and a 99.5+ feedback rating, as long as their limited negatives don’t include accusations of selling fake stuff.
