My most recent score at Lowes

checked my Lowes the other night, nothing like this at all :frowning:

Yeah clearances that low are totally dependent on the manager. Same stuff happens at Walmart and Target. Some managers refuse to clearance an item that is 10 years old and and worth 1/190th of the original value…yet have it in the clearance section at full retail price.

that makes sense. It’s also sometimes a problem of living in a small town in the middle of nowhere - either they have less stock to begin with or they have such a captive audience that they don’t have to discount stuff much to get rid of it.

I have to check out my local Lowes.

This reminds me of the time I was buying a very nice quality Weber 2-piece grill tool set on clearance from Home Depot. But at the register it scanned at an even lower price. One cent. One penny!

I freaked out. Back outside at my car I decided that I HAD to return inside and purchase the remaining 4 tool sets.

Figuring it must have been some kind of mistake, I felt very guilty that I was stealing, and decided to go to the self-service scanning register because an actual clerk would stop me and call the manager.

I remember my hand shaking when I placed a nickel into the slot to buy all that merchandise, and still received change back!

That’s a great score, wouldn’t it be great if everything you bought went like that?

This was probably a “managers special” and one of a kind.

I once bought at Home Depot, 2 table lamps and 2 light bulbs on clearance at 1 cent each. When the cashier rang me up she did a double take and then politely asked me for 4 cents. I reached into my front pocket looking for 4 pennies, but had only 3. I looked up and said to her, “darn, I’m going to have to break a nickel on this purchase” The customer next in line, watching all this, offered the 4th penny, which I graciously accepted.

….

haha, haha, HAHAHA. Love it.
