Need info on Spring Bypass...first time.

Hi guys,
I would like to do a spring bypass on a Astrolux S3, Convoy S2+ 18350 version and a Convoy S2+.
I have never attempted any kind of work on a flashlight.

So I am looking for info on what I need to successfully do this work.
I would like to order everything I would need at one online shop including a soldering iron and the tool or tools to remove the retaining rings, some of those holes are smaller than others.

Thanks

Some good info in this thread:

i prefer a silicone wire outside the spring…

sloppy one

The best way is through the pcb directly to the switch.

Me too…. but only for the tailcap.

At the head, there’s too much risk of a direct short if the solder at either end of the wire gives way and the wire flops loose and touches the negative ring.

For this reason I prefer to use wire or solder braid inside the spring at the head. At the tail I prefer wire soldered outside the spring.

One last tip: You can cut a small piece of copper to serve as a contact plate at the top of the spring. This way the solder at the wire isn’t directly rubbing against the battery. Can help it last longer. You can also use it at the positive contact with an inverted spring.

And I think it was Ouchyfoot who tipped us to put the switch on “off” before soldering the wire to the switch.

Thank you…now that you bring that up I do remember reading that recently.

Thanks guys
