Never give someone just a knife.

hang on to your wallet… lol

thank you too for the trip down memory lane
stay sharp

I don’t know if it’s my farming Scandinavian heritage, or the practical nature of my family (who including myself never had a lot of money), or a combination all three factors but, handling down a knife is a tradition in my family.

Like many here, I’ve lost count of the knives and flashlights I’ve given away over the years. Never once did I included a coin.

Now, wallets are a different story in my family. They are traditionally gifted with a penny already inside; for a wish of good fortune. (Seems that never came to fruition- LOL.) Later in my life the penny was replaced with a single one or two dollar bill.

Just my 2¢ of input. Take it for what it’s worth.

When I got my first car, some people threw loose change into the footwell. Forgot the reason why.

Aptly named, “”The Edge”:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Edge\_(1997_film).” It featured the lovely Elle MacPherson. I had such a crush on her… :person_facepalming:

The tradition in my family was to give a coin if you ever were given a knife. But my parents were not into that custom. For my father a knife was just like every other tool. Nothing special. Take good care of it.
