I measured the MF06 at 5 meters, indoors. Given the 100 mm reflector and I knew the specs would be roughly 1/2 the advertised (ive tested ebough lights to know what performance to at least expect) i felt confortable getting a good solid figure at that distance. I l highly doubt it would trend+ at 10. meters
At 5m, my C8 SFT40 measures more intense than Osram CSLNM. This should give a good idea of how much distance you need for lights much bigger than a C8.
This ray trace demonstrates exactly why one cannot reliably measure intensity at short distances…
Zoomed out to give a sense of scale of just how far it takes a throwy beam to converge:

It has a lot to do with thr size of the LED LES also as much as the reflector shape/size. I typically measure lights with large reflectors at 10m as well as LEPs.
I continue to have problems with this website. The thread count is right over top of the reply button and I can’t reply unless I quote someone.
Thanks everybody for the information. It’s $132 now. From what I read it doesn’t sound worth it especially when I have a wt90 and a tn42vn.
My question is does this have a step down and if so which kind and how long if it’s time and what temperature if it’s thermal?
Yes it’s timed, not thermal. The sustained output isn’t great either. The TN42 is a better flashlight all around. The WT90 has an inferior driver to either of these, and the MF06 will run circles aeiund either of those for runtime, but the others will totally beat it in output.
Thanks. Any idea how long to step down is? It’s probably like 2 minutes at the most. I have always liked to put my own batteries in. That’s one of those 46950 batteries. It will have a lot of run time but I’ll trade higher output and longer turbo runs over a larger proprietary type / or more difficult battery to acquire, any day.
It lasts a while, 4-5 minutes of around 2600-3000 Lumens, but then takes a 60% dive to the regulated output of about 1200 Lumens for a real long time. Not great. The Amutorch Dm90 does better, as does the Weltool F6R and Acebeam P20, but much shorter runtime
Thanks.
Those reasons are exactly why I prefer modified lights or ones with Anduril 2 where you can set the thermal limit to 70 celsius/158 Fahrenheit or some kind of driver where you can disable the step down . I like my hand to determine when I turn the light down. And then when I do I just run on low for three or four minutes until it cools down.
Yah that’s the beat way and you can do that with the WT90 with NarsilM (I did that on mine right away), MF02 (it had Anduril). These consumer lights are tuned for runtime and lower operating temperatures. Astrolux has been doing this since they dropped Anduril from their lineup. I’d love to see an Anduril version of the MF06 and MF07, but with the retarded and super-sketchy Bluetooth deal they made it impossible without a total driver swap (and you loalse charging). We can dream!
