Hey are there advantages to dedoming 519A other than reducing color temp? I’m looking at the D4K and I love the nice ~3300K of my mixed emitter D18. I could get a 4500K dedome or a 3500K dome

Dedoming, for me, does 4 things, in increasing order of importance:

1. Doubles the intensity. May be desirable, may be not, depends on your preference. I have 519A’s running in a S2+ triple, and the extra throw from dedoming makes it much more useful to me.

2. Lowers the CCT by around 20-30%. In your case, dedoming a 2700K 519A takes it down to 2200K, which is closer to what you are looking for if you want ultra warm.

3. Makes the tint rosier, which is almost always desirable.

4. Most importantly for me: it eliminates angular tint shift! Domed emitters are prone to having a yellow-green hotspot and purple spill, and dedoming makes the beam color much more uniform. In my opinion, having horrible angular tint shift, with both CCT and duv varying wildly in the same beam, defeats the purpose of a high CRI emitter.
