Ive used mine about 1800 times over the past 3 years and its still on its original tip. Temperature control is very precise with fast reheat. It helped convert me from a so-so-soldering-nubie into one of near professional results. Sure, the same basics of correct soldering techniques and skills still apply, but its so much easier with this smurf colored gadget.

Bangood has a couple of good deals from their US warehouse. The bare aluminum BLF A6, usually $29.99 is now $24.99 and you can apply BG points to take another 15% off down to $21.24. The short tube is reduced down to $3.50 or so.
(Edit: This deal isn’t working anymore) Also, there is an incredibly good deal on the Astrolux SC copper 14500 XP-L HI light, again from the US warehouse, using M4D M4X’s codes to get it down to $34 and change. I just got mine after paying $41 on what I thought was a great deal. Don’t really need another one, but it is a really nice light.
