It seems any decent deal is now being swiped and posted on other “Deal a Day” sites.
I know one of the Group buys that OL produced a while back ended up on Woot, Slick Deals, etc. And was sold out quick.
So some prix comes in and steals the link, shares it for $ for click hits/whatever and the group suffers from it.
I guess BLF has reached a size where it is open season on any deal we discover and decide to share among our members.
Hate to say it, but if I now see something that I may want multiples of and cannot buy them all at once, I will not post it here. Too many vultures hogging them all up in one fell swoop.
Doable; it’d take a site with access control, maybe admission allowed only once someone had N (or NNN) number of postings made here, not counting spam posts ….
and work for someone. Maybe give that “someone” the click/hit wealth resulting from using such a private world of wise information?
There’s a wonderful story by Avram Davidson, titled “The Sources of the Nile” — in which one particular family has the gift of knowing what’s going to be good and popular in the near future, and an advertising jerk tries to capture them for his own profit.
Kind of what’s going on here, where experienced, thoughtful people who help each other out will screen the waterfall of crap that is the Internet for the occasional good fish worth catching as it goes by….
Meh! Why buy the Nitecore when I can buy 4 NW Hugsby’s for less than the sale price of 1 Nitecore? I think Nitecore is the Apple or Monster Cable of the flashlight world.
I should've put email-newsletter-only, but the promo codes Fry's generate are unique to every subscriber on the mailing list and are 1-time use to prevent abuse, but everyone gets the same deal.
That being said I'm not going to use both of mine so first come first serve I suppose. 6126770 and 5294545
An other way of looking at this is that our posts are public domain. The merchants may want their deals to be available to as many people as possible. In the long run, I think, we will get better deals if we cooperate with our suppliers.
