As posted by me in Marcl's misleadingly labelled thread "Banggood selling fake Nitecore charger? confirmed by Nitecore's website, if it's working" :
I have a few Nitecore D4 chargers sourced from Nitecore themselves, some of which fail their own tests for verifying if genuine or not.
When I spoke to my Nitecore contact about this, he said that they still had old stock of chargers & parts to clear/use up.
So many chargers would fail Or partially fail their new "promulgated" verification tests.
Best Regards,
George
Best keep this near the top. Don’t you people have libel laws?

I don’t know why it took me til yesterday to find Nitecore’s page describing fakes and the magnet test.
I did email them at the address they provide where they ask people to contact them about possible fake chargers:

…
Reference: The capacitors of legitimate Nitecore chargers are developed by Niteocre …EDIT — not sure which charger they picture here, anyone recognize the innards?
(And yes, they really did misspell their own company’s name, but the picture shows the capacitors labeled “Nitecore”
![]()
not “Niteocre”)And I don’t know — yet — whether that test is only applicable to chargers they made recently (like late in 2014 when they published that page).
But I’m curious, now that they have published the magnet test — and the pictures showing where to find the Nitecore name on parts inside their chargers.
What ya got and when did ya got it from where?
I’ve got one, that fails most of their tests.
But I’m very sure it is legit.
Nitecore would like you to believe that the only true Nitecore is one that has been supplied to the “Nitecore loyal customer, via. a ”Nitecore approved supplier”, at the Nitecore approved price, policed by Nitecore MAP (illegal here).
Anything else is “counterfeit”. According to them.
They have distracted people with these (confusing, contradictory , inconsistent, and ultimately meaningless tests.)
Otherwise called FUD.
As is the “201x” new model stuff.
Designed so the approved suppliers can clean out their warehouse (back door) and be the first to have the “improved” models (unspecified how) at the proper, slightly increased, (Nitecore) price.
Well, that’s my view.
Call me a cynic.
PS: My I4 is OK with LiIon.
But not my choice for NiMh.
I think there are better designs.
Review of Charger SysMax/NiteCore i4 V2
Read the summary and the conclusion.

For a second I thought this was the other thread and the title had been changed.

For a second I thought this was the other thread and the title had been changed.
I don't think that will ever happen because marcl isn't man enough to admit when he is wrong.

Hi everyone, I think most of the legitimate points have already been made here, and there’s enough information for everyone to make their future purchasing decisions. Some of the posts are turning quite confrontational and/or aggressive, so I’m going to lock the thread.
