NOCTIGON DM1.12 THROW + FLOOD

Perhaps I wasn’t entirely clear what I meant. It was not intended as criticism. What I mean is both have their strengths and weaknesses and it’s a matter of what your intended purpose is. I own both and they are not interchangeable imho. Or put differently, they complement eachother nicely.

edit:
Concerning mcpcb size, I was mostly thinking of other brands, not in relation to Emisar. I should have pointed that out better.

Thanks for the replies Hikelite. You confirmed what I was thinking. Add that there would be a premium for a 90.2 LED and it makes the decision even simpler to make.

Also thanks to Glenn7 for the info as well.

Now I can order the light!

Already have a Convoy L7 as a dedicated thrower.

Always happy to help, I just use common sense and used experience - I’ve been into lights for over 25 years and owned just about all types and brands you can think of (100+ I don’t like buying cheap stuff - I have but often it disappoints) but man! have I spent some moola! on this sick hobby :0)

IMO you are right, get the right tool for the right job - use your L7 as a thrower then you won’t be disappointed.
I understand if you are out walking/camping/hiking/trekking, you kind of need to have one light to do all so that changes what light you take and the DM1.12 might be the jack of all trades master of none light.
I like multitools but they always disappoint as they are good if that’s all you have but they are another “jack of all trades master of none tool” so as long as I have access to a pair of pliers, I always carry a knife for all else in fact my latest is the Midguard-Messer Beowolf folder - I have a small knife collection too :person_facepalming:

Same goes for pretty much everything that’s considered a “hybrid”. “Hybrid” is ad-speak for “compromise” and is almost always sold as The Best Of Both Worlds! We all know it’s usually closer to the opposite. Take hybrid bikes for example. Marketed as “crossbikes”, they suck at being a road bike and suck at being a mountain bike. Hey, but’s it’s The Best Of Both Worlds!

^ Not really quite so true with the hybrid bike. I’ve seen some that lean toward one end or the other and do it pretty well. Meaning some are a bit more like a road bike or a bit more like a mountain bike. And then all it comes down to is the tires. And that’s where the flexibility comes in. Some people need the adaptability.

While I (try) wait patiently for my light, and as I ordered the extra battery tube so it could take 26800 batteries, I’ve had to source some batteries (which I have) so then then now I needed to source a charger that will fit 26800 batteries.
I do have an Olight USB/magnetic portable charger, but it only charges at .75amps and it does charge but slow.
I can add some leads and magnets to an existing charger but not that is so fiddly. So I have been hunting for a charger that will just work.
So far the only one I have seen is the Yonii C2000 which is quite cheap, but have read that it’s cut off voltage is not so good.
So I kept hunting, and I have bought “”this”“:B6 Nex Charger - SkyRC charger, I know it’s not cheap and I will have to improvise but it will charge everything and accurately. I will use mini alligator clips with magnetic ball bearing’s to attach it to my batteries to charge them at 3amps.
Just thought I’d mention here as I guess everyone that gets the extra tube for 26800 batteries will be in the same boat - I like that I can control the charger from my phone via BT and will notify me when done.

That is some seriously cool technology! Grizzly is fixing to review a single port charger by xtar… They have specifically designed it to fit the 26800. Probably grab it when it comes available, for now I have the Olight magnets on wires!

Yes I did know Xtar was maybe making one but for me it’s to little to late, they could be 6 or more months away for purchase and I also want to ether charge quick or charge multiple cells at once. I’ve also read it’s been expensive/hard to get 26800’s as well.

It is really hard to get the 26800, right now. Nobody making them and the demand is so high now that flashlight enthusiasts found them. I got two off of a guy on Reddit… Happy to get them in prep for my DM1.21 and Convoy L8!

Aloft is expecting their restock order sometime next week. Prices shown currently on the site are higher than they used to be but still a good price. I’ve asked a couple places and nobody seems to think (via their suppliers) that it’s a larger problem, just one of staffing and logistics courtesy of covid fallout.

That staffing and logistics sure does trickle down and cause some problems. I heard the other day that Ford is selling their Explorers without heat/ac in the back because they don’t have chips… Either wait for the chips and don’t sell vehicles or sell the vehicle with a flaw… and later install the chip.

Great to know about the battery, thanks for passing that on!

Yeah, it’s crazy. And the current lockdown in various cities in China is sure to have ripple effects for months to come. “They” had already expected various chip and component shortages to last into 2024 but it’s entirely plausible now that it may go longer. Some industries will catch up faster than others, though, as long as freight movement is steady. What a mess.

Someone in the Convoy thread just mentioned that he heard elsewhere that QB may be shutting down production…which in this case is just cell wrappers and testing…that would suck and hopefully is just errant gossip from whoever/wherever. Asked for clarification. If that does happen to be true then maybe the other companies who are wrapping with green/blue - and if it’s actually the same cell as the QB - will fill the need even if we have to pay more via china-direct orders. Hopefully just misinformation.
