Non Flashlight orders/received

Having recently been camping and found the lack of serated knife for bread annoying, I did a bit of googling and found those serated victorinox, even better, The Picnic (or whatever they call it) is folding.

Have a look at the Opinel No.12 serrated, it’s perfect. My campervan tends not to have sharp things lurking in overhead cubbys, just in case. It’s a good sized serrated folder, big enough to slice bread.

I said I was done buying knives for at least until the last few months of the year, but I absolutely could NOT pass this deal up. Seen on r/Victorinox, Walmart had some extremely low clearance priced SAKs on their site.

I’m talking like the Cybertool M for $21, probably over $100 off. That one got sniped out of my cart instantly, but I did manage to order a 91mm walnut scale Huntsman for $9 and an 111mm WorkChamp for $16 something.

To top it off, I had $25 Walmart cash for inadvertently signing up for W+, and my total was $27, so I paid $2.60 for both knives shipped. Absolutely insane.

I was expecting to have my order cancelled, because it felt too good to be true, and had to be a pricing error. Well, my Huntsman showed up on the porch today, and the WorkChamp is due Thursday. Very hopefully the latter makes it, it’d be my first 111mm SAK. I wish it had the front serrated blade with the opening hole, but I am NOT complaining.

Here’s (a bad picture of) the Huntsman:

I kinda want to put linseed oil on the scales, but I don’t know if they’re already finished or raw, or if I’d need to sand first. The Vic shield is laser etched instead of an inlay like on the cellidor scales.

Another thing is that I had purchased a beat up used Huntsman online along with an Explorer (both for parts) a few days prior, and it already shipped so I won’t cancel it. Originally my plan was to mod the saw blade into my Troubleshooter when I do the Dragonfly blade swap. Probably I’ll give the used one to my brother.

I didn’t plan on buying four SAKs in four days but I guess that’s how it went.

WOW. That is a heck of a deal.. How did you find that? Any more available?

Walmart site clearance. Unfortunately they’re nearly as low now, but they still have some decent deals like $90 something for the 91mm Swiss Champ I think. This one was discounted to $17, and also got a wood Huntsman for $9.

A week or so ago someone posted on the r/Victorinox about Walmart app clearance impossibly low SAK prices. $21 Cybertool M and all kinds of similar crazy discounts. I believe they were likely price errors instead of just actual sales.

My total for both was $27 ish, and I somehow had a $25 W+ cash “gift balance” so I used it on these. $2.62 for the wood Huntsman and WorkChamp.

I still almost can’t even believe it. The Cybertools went very quickly. I’ve kept looking but they’re not that discounted any more.

I have several high-quality multitools, but I’ve never had a high-quality Swiss Army Knife.
That said, I actually prefer the shape of multitools that prominently feature pliers. :switzerland:

Since this this the blade thread, I got replacement blades for my Wahl clippers that’s still going since 1995.

5 Thanks

Replaceability of those never crossed my mind. Maybe because I bought a Wahl trimmer about five years ago so it’ll not be as high quality as a '95 model I’m sure.

I need a better one. Mine’s battery, NiMH I’m assuming, and its capacity or runtime just keep getting lower it seems. Kinda looking for either a corded one or one that takes 18650 cells. I have to charge mine for hours (that’s why I think it’s NiMH) just to get 30min of use once a week or so

Monterey Bay Maiar in K390, supposedly 63-64HRC. Extremely thin behind the edge, absolutely my thinnest blade no contest. Full flat grind, half stop. 10 MOP inlays, stainless handle. I’ve wanted this for quite a while, and happened to find it was $75 off. I “needed” a fancier gentlemen’s style knife anyway

Nice!
I prefer the older 5000 Series, but if that weren’t available anymore, I’d try the newer 3000 Series. :slightly_smiling_face:
