NTG50 6V LED test result for 1800K, 2700K, 4200K and 5000K

I second Zak’s recommendation. A single-emitter light might only save 3-4mm in diameter at the head, but those small savings can make a surprising difference in how comfortable it is in the pocket. A slight increase in length due to the fact that larger diameter optics/reflectors are also deeper is a very reasonable tradeoff. It would end up similar in size to the Skilhunt M150, but better:

Even though there are fewer emitter choices for 6V, mostly larger, it could actually have a slightly more focused beam. For example, 519A’s behind the Carclo 10511 result in about the 2.8 candela / lumen.

The 16mm Gaggione LLC22F is estimated with the B35A at 3.9 Cd/Lm:

I would guess that the planned NTG50 LED would work, too.

Perhaps even the driver could be unchanged? 6V 2A would still make it likely the most powerful regulated AA-size light on the market.

Hi Hank, this could make a great headlamp. Would you consider offering the option of a smooth battery tube?

I suspect the knurling could be an issue with the holders in many headbands. Thanks for considering the idea.

Interest check for the KR1 with blacken ss parts.

I like it.

That would be awesome!!! I would definitely grab another one or two.

Edit to add: especially the gray with black. That’s my jam!!!

Yes please!

That would get me to finally order one - please offer them!

Those look incredible! Are you planning on lumex1 drivers to fit the kr1?

D4K boost, 519A 5700K dedomed, standard default frosted-narrow-spot optic. Grey host with steel bezel and clip and cool white button. I forget which Carclo product number that is… but it’s the narrowest one with a flat surface instead of having scoops removed for extra throw.

However, it fell ~40cm from a chair seat onto a soft carpet floor, and that was somehow enough to break it. The aux LEDs still work, and the button responds normally, but the main LEDs don’t light up any more. Seems like maybe one of the main LED power wires may have detached. And the soldering in there is too tiny and precise for me to really fix it.

I was really sad about that… because it’s my favorite light and it broke.

So I need to get myself another one. Now that it comes in red, I’d probably get a red one instead of grey.

If it’s just a wire broke, you could send it to @jlhawaii808 and have him fix it. I could do it, but his soldering is much better than mine.

Excellent excuse to get a DA1K with the new NTG50 in 4200K - should be even better light quality than the 519As.

That sounds really nice, especially at 4200K. Would love to see a DA1K with that LED.

When will the NTG50 be ready? I’m looking forward to the 1800k!

It looks great! What kind of coating is it?

PVD is somewhat fragile, but DLC (diamond-like carbon) would be perfect as it is very durable.

Please make this I’ll buy 20 of them

Yes, DA1K works well with NTG50 LED,

The 4200k variant looks very similar to a 519A 5700k dedomed, very exciting!

Hopefully they are available soon.

They are already available now,

And when will there be efficiency measurements? Will there be neutral versions? (duv 0,002/-0,002)

I don’t think there will be neutral duv (0,002/-0,002) since we need to guarantee that the tint is on the rosy side, more test will be coming soon,
