Finally received my Lightmaster Series II today, the Pro was out of stock when I ordered. Package looked ok, but I think its DOA. The charging and power indicators will not light up and the neither the app or my phones bluetooth sees it. I’ve contacted the Opple Official Store on Aliexpress to see what they say, hopefully I’m not out 22 bucks.

hmmm that sucks.
If it's just a connection issue, you have to make sure to turn on Bluetooth AND location/gps.
But if there are no lights visible.. that would worry me as well.
Did you try to charge it?

Bluetooth and Location are turned on, I even made sure the location permissions were granted to the app per the instructions. But I think that is all moot. When I first plugged it in to charge it, I got an orange indicator light for a few seconds, then nothing. Tried different known good USB Cables, different known good USB wall worts and a known good USB Port on my PC. None of these will get the charging indicator to light up. I left it plugged in for a couple of hours for craps and giggles but it still won’t turn on (flashing indicator next to the sensor) when I slide open the unit.

The USB port is not square on mine and I have to take special effort when I plug it in. Might look at yours. I need to figure out how to non-destructively take mine apart and reflow the micro usb connector to make it true.

I noticed that it is slightly off center, but I’m positive that I’m getting the USB Cable seated properly.

No problem… mine is also to deep and only a few cables will work with it. Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out for you.

Thanks. I’ll make sure I post an update when I hear back from them.

Opple responded and asked for a video showing that it was not working. I sent them the video today, so we will see how they respond. I’ll post an update when I hear back.
Edit… I just heard back. They are sending a Pro version to replace my DOA Series 2. I’ll post an update when it arrives. Gotta love good customer service.

That's awesome news. If you have their ear, can you ask if more Pro versions will be available for sale?

All our communication was done through the online chat message screen, but I’ll post the question.

Hi there. My Opple Light Master Pro came with the same problem (misaligned USB port with the port cut out). Please refer to my reddit post for more information on the issue. You will have to gently pry them open with a flat head screwdriver (the top and bottom part of the case are held together by 4 snap on clips).

How did you get the outer case to clear that plastic piece that rides in the goove on the side?

Hi bobvoeh you can refer to the video on how to remove the aluminium housing.
Great
Video doesn’t show how to release the inner case. As for the Reddit post, only 1st 2 photos show up. Where are the 3rd and 4th? I see a link to an album, but the details of pulling the fellow apart doesn’t appear.

Sorry man the purpose of the reddit post is not to teach someone how to dismantle the device. From this image (5 hosted at ImgBB — ImgBB) you can see the positioning of the 4 snap on clips. You can insert a precision flat head screwdriver into the gap and gently pry them open (do not use excessive force!). Unfortunately I can no longer record a video of the teardown process as my device is glued shut with Super Glue to prevent the PCB from flexing due to a broken standoff.

This is the problem I am having… I have pushed very hard on mine and it will not come out of the shell. Manufacturing change?

I watched the video, does your unit not have the plastic tab that fits into the groove right next to the little toggle switch? See image circled in red:

mattlward;
Fumbling with my unit but without success. Seems the tab (7mm x ~2mm) can be forced inwards (via a small screwdriver) when pushed thru the back. There’s an indent under the “e” from the logo ‘Opple’ that I can override with a .0015” shim. It can be seen when you push out the device from the aluminum.
There’s a small switch next to the tab, the “on” when pushed.

All-in-all, I’d rather not force the tab, being mine works (for the time being…).
