Opple Light Master III (G3) discussion thread (Cheap device for measuring Lux, CCT + CRI)

</p>

I tested a couple of mine, and the AR coated (purple) ones from Convoy influenced on average of about 0.0010 (I measured 0.0012)

Here's the data I have: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/69051/78

Yikes I don’t know how I missed that thread because I intended to follow it. I’ll spend an hour reading your 24-hour test session results. Then I’ll spend at least 15 minutes seeing if I can duplicate a tiny fraction of your results.

I love getting schooled, I'm a better guy after it lol! Thanks man, I'm picking up some real good methodologies from this post.

Some more tests of me shining a light at an Opple! The TIR on these lights really change the CCT of the emitters.

These new MF01 minis came with the brass insert, and are going to be used even with the green tint. Pretty good floody hotrods, hopefully I'll get enough experience to tackle a reflow on this with tint-mixed 519As.

Update: my Opple G3 won't hold a charge anymore. Good thing about it is that it works even if the battery's toast. Going to try sending it back for a replacement still.

Anyone had any further contact or info on more Pro models that can be obtained in the US? A few months ago, somone got a May timeline out of them. I’ve been checking everywhere I can think to look and the best I can find are some Euro sellers that list the GIII avaliable and in stock (no gen 2 listed) and then have pics of the GIII and Pro. That doesn’t do much for my confidence so I’m hoping I’ll have a shot at an actual Pro model some day. Anyone hear any whispers?

I hope it happens for you…

fwiw, on page 1 of this thread it says:

“NOTE: The Opple Light Master PRO (which is the same as the III or G3) is the one you want”

here is a review that says the same… G3 = Pro:

I read that, and just about all of the following comments. It still seemed like some grey area exists. There are some simple graphic differences which may just be the regional branding difference. The one that I didn’t see any definitive conclusion on was the light vs dark/pro app. It was said that it was a regional release but it seemed to have a few more capabilities, if I understand. Always difficult when one is processing a long thread with information that changed or was updated over time. If the “GIII” can run the dark app that shows R values, sure that one is fine.

> If the “GIII” can run the dark app that shows R values, sure that one is fine.

yes, the Pro can show CRI Ra, only, no other R values.

> some Euro sellers that list the GIII avaliable and in stock

I hope it is actually in stock for you to buy, from a seller that will give you a refund if they ship you a G2 instead.

maybe ask for a photo of the actual item,
if it says Pro on the front, that is good.

Although, there are some that do not say Pro on front, and are still G3 and work with the Pro app to show CRI Ra (such as the one in the 1lumen review link I posted above.)

Been eyeballing the pro and since it’s May now, but still out of stock, I asked them today…… August :person_facepalming: Opple offical store on AE.

If you're in Europe, you can still buy the III, although at a much higher price.

link?

thanks for the update
some people use Light Spectrum Pro instead… I have not tried it

I just checked myself and still had the page open: Opple Light Master G3 Luxmeter ab € 34,27 (2024) | Preisvergleich Geizhals Deutschland

Higher price might be acceptable, but shipping (to Sweden) takes it over the top (17 - 20 EUR)

Thanks for the NL links ChibiM.

Misschien bij m’n ouders laten afleveren, zij komen deze zomer toch mijn kant op  (Dutch, sorry couldn’t resist)

You found it for 56 Euro delivered?

thanks ;-), so people can buy Opple in Europe still, for about 50 Euro?..

I can understand being sorry to have missed the sale…, I paid 31 Euro for mine…

Its a great tool, I would consider putting 1 Euro per day in a piggy bank, for 4 weeks… That would “save” me an extra 28 Euros… before August

I’m not in a hurry, but was mentally counting on them being available this month. August feels so far away, although to be honest, during summer any light related stuff is low prio anyway. Barely any darkness to use flashlights. It’s more that flashlights have been piling up and I’d like to get some measurements that are more accurate than eyeballing light on a white wall. Either now or after summer would be ok.

More or less, but very dubious store (bad reviews). 60 eur with better reviews. Most end up towards 70 eur delivered

Main problem is the EU. A few years ago they dictated that you’re no longer allowed to sell goods in an envelope. Must use package and that’s 15+ EUR. Since then small things are just not fun anymore. Just get it from China instead. Lower price and free shipping most of the time.

hahaha. graag gedaan.

I couldn't order it at AliExpress to send to the Netherlands, probably of certain business restrictions? So I wonder why they still send it to Sweden...

Haven’t got a clue. I can press buy now for the series 2 and no problem at all. Never had any issues ordering from China (except Banggood that can’t send Lumintop products a few years ago). Flashlights, batteries (even a 40 Ah pack), metals (Indium), weird sensors and electronics and lots of other stuff. All comes through.

I can order from other stores, but not from Opple on Aliexpress.. I heard there were other people having the same problem.. maybe they were all Dutch :D
