Over-discharged NCR18650B - Throw Away???

I'm really glad the protection circuit saved the cells from self destructing while completely discharging in a flashlight. Consider me schooled. I thought they were goners. I'll have to try to remember that. I wonder if all protection circuits in these types of batteries offer this kind of protection?

It all depends on the programming of the chip used, but in general all that I’ve seen have overvoltage, undervoltage and overcurrent protection.
Undervoltage monitoring does not consider low current, as long as it dips under threshold it trips.

Makes perfect sense, not used to seeing that in most designs.
