No, “so be it” means that if I see something I like better… I’ll say so. Personally I’ll consider anything, but if I don’t like it I’ll not be changing my mind.

Thank you for your “apology”, but as far as I am concerned it is not necessary. You are just passionate about your opinion, nothing wrong with that. :+1:

I am up to look at anything. (not that I have any say so besides my personal opinion)

But like someone said, Texas_Ace I think it was; my vision also for this light is something aggressive, sturdy looking, and bold. What I have seen so far in the renderings ‘5ar’ has done fills that desire for me.

5ar could you make one with the more and thinner fins? (As I so crudely drawn)

Now there are 8 anti roll cutouts, please widen them but make it 7 (yes uneven for alignment reasons so not 6)

Then while your are at it, get rid if the ledge Thijsco speaks of.

Finally make transition from the widest part to narrow smooth (see my crude insult of a drawing  )

I strongly think it will all come together and by smoothen the antibroll section also much closer to Jerommels design.

Please indulge me

I have put together requested Save-The-Date refrigerator magnets, only to have the idea change, then tweaks, then a new idea, tweaks to that, spent days doing what should have been accomplished in hours. So I have a good idea what 5ar is facing… lol.

This kind of thing is why so many opinions “muddy” the water, easy enough for a lot of people to toss ideas out, but one guy somewhere is dedicating hours of free time to the project. Think of it not as free time, what if we were paying 5ar $100 an hour to draw this stuff up, how would we go about it then? Just a thought…

Thank you 5ar, you’re very incredibly awesome in the renderings and I for one greatly appreciate the effort.

I totally agree and fully appreciate your efforts ’5ar’!!! :+1: …

Personally original design for me is just jaaaw dropping :open_mouth: . Everything else proposed is just ruined the whole thing. 5ar you did a magnificent job and since you are from Croatia I would love to see led4power involved in this project with driver design….

Also I wouldn’t care much about heat disposal considering the size of that head. Just use a 40mm X 2,5mm copper mcpcb and 1cm thick shelf under and no problemo :+1:

Turbo should be time limited for 3-5 minutes,to be honest majority of time it would be used just for show off, but the HI mode should give 500Kcd with much safer Amperage and with no worries with heat…

Very much so! This is a big part of why I have been “saving up” the minor changes till we could have a bunch of them done at once to save time.

^ +1

The rendering by 5ar is absolutely amazing! I say we leave the cosmetic details for last and start to find who can produce the light to our spec.

About the fins, in a light this big it’s not the fins that will get rid of the heat but the mass itself, like the convoy L6 with thick and short fins and it does a good job managing the heat. Now imagine a much larger light, driven at less than half the power… how the fins look are not a concern here

Actually the power will only be a little lower by the time we are done with it and if a larger quad head is made later that will obviously be much larger. Might as well plan ahead but no need to get crazy.

How about contacting Lumintop for manufacturing? They have experience with big chunks like SD75, also QC from them is on a high level…

I dont think 40mm is smart to use. More common sizes are much better and easier for mods.
Using a thermal sensor to step down to 90% if the body near the led reaches 60 or 65 degrees celsius? If light is colder than that then 2.8A to the led, if it is higher then 2.5A to the led. Job finished.

Narsil supports temperature control now, so it will have some form of temperature step down although ideally this light will not need it as it should be able to be used for real search and rescue missions as well.

That is very true. I forgot that the L6 has almost no problems, and this is twice as big, and with half power of L6.

Twice as big yes but only a little less power with how we will be driving the LED (about ~30-35w vs ~40w)

Hey, did I read something about hourly wages, nice nice, does that mean i can look for a new car  LOL
No of course 5ars work is much appreciated for sure.
But so is the work of DEL, Tom, Jerommel, and all that contribute

I really think that with the changes I propose in my previous post both design will come together and do justice to others who have given input.

Yep, knock yourself out ‘The Miller’. Considering what you are gonna make off this deal…… this will probably take care of all the “looking” you need to do. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d like to thank you all for a very-very good job with this GT, and I’m also very proud to be a part of this forum.
Humble is the right word!
Such a great bunch of dedicated people! NICE!!

And I also like the 5ar design, but still felling that thinner and higher fins to smooth out that ‘ledge’ area would be “right”, and just the sight of it would be Awsome!
…haveing som kind of real functionality in it to is just a big also? I think.

This is f…ing awsome guys!! thumbs up!

:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Please add me to the list !

Shucks, what a ghastly endeavour to get something nice on my screen to propose to you Philistines dear GT enthusiasts…

So i’ve got nothing today…
