Yes, Jason was doing all the work of the Team, so he is part of the team as far as I am concerned and apparently I am in charge now so I guess that is that lol.
Jason handles communication in the thread as I don’t have time to dedicate to it and he handles the repeat questions a lot better then I do.
Did you see the 1789x3817 resolution picture in my link? The entire light is coated.
Cerakote is basically sprayed on a part like paint and then baked in an oven.
If you look at the Cerakote sample page you can see a TN42 also with the factory looking logo on it.
I’m thinking someone scanned the original logo and then re-lasered it back on the light. I think laser engravers are pretty cheap nowadays. I’ve seen some for $50. Maybe Vinh spent a few hundred bucks to get a “decent” one for his Cerakote service. Or whoever does the service for him has a laser engraver. It’s the only explanation I can come up with.
It definitely adds the finishing touch to the lights.
Type II anodizing isn’t very durable. Cerakote (properly done) is better from my experience. Type III hard anodizing on the other hand, if done right, is extremely durable. Although, it’s only available in grey or black.
First GT from latest 185 just received.
Its flawless in every aspect, tint is so beautiful to my eyes, reflector is nicely done with no rings from machining, led is centered perfectly!
I am only disappointed how small it is :D.
Just kidding this thing is ridiculously big!!
That purple color is exactly what I would have chosen if I had the choice, beautiful! Am in the process of a custom order on a different item at the moment that I’m asking for virtually exactly the same purple in anodizing Titanium… if it turns out like that I’ll be seriously stoked! (especially as the price point is well beyond what I should be entertaining!)
Kudo’s to Vinh on the Cerakoted GT, awesome!
Edit: Kudo’s also to whoever took that photo, metallic purple is a difficult thing to capture!
Those knives are beautiful. I would probably never use them though, and I don’t need any more shelf queens. They are a work of art. Thanks for the link!
