Philips wins $10M L Prize for LED-based 60W replacement bulb

Well, at $50 a bulb, it is definitely expensive. But I have to say, it is by FAR the best LED bulb I have used so far. Philips has an absolute winner on their hands. Once the price gets down to ~$20 a bulb, I will replace every light in my house with these. (the old model is already down to $25 a bulb).

I can't recommend this bulb enough!!

In 2013 (10 years ago) the L-Prize bulb was sold for $15.

OK, let’s see if the URL survives this: In some areas, the price is around $50. In select areas (US — sorry) it’s $14.97. I bought three this past weekend, and so far I really like them. I measure 8.8 watts versus the listed 10, and the output is pretty near perfect. Also quiet, and with a reputation of stone reliability, it looks hard to beat.
