Possibly fake or scammy: IATF 16949 Certified LED Flashlight Manufacturer in Shenzhen [OEM from 10 pcs]

@ToyKeeper

To clarify: our current products do not use Anduril firmware. The reference on our website was included incorrectly by our web agency — it has now been removed.

If we integrate Anduril in future products, we will fully comply with the GPL v3 license — including publishing the source code, retaining all copyright notices, and properly attributing your work.

Thank you for holding manufacturers accountable.

@SammysHP We have now completed the removal of those images across our websites. We appreciate the community’s feedback in helping us meet international standards.

Both these are olight products.

Perhaps it would better to start again with photos of your own products…

If there’s one thing this site is about, it’s the detail. You’re dealing with a lot of serious enthusiasts, throw a big bunch of OCD and ADHD in the mix, and you get flamed. Legit company or not, it’s the messiest intro I’ve seen.

So, if I ordered the E5 Wurkkos lookalike, would I receive one? Do you have that light in your stock with the Aurora branding? Do Wurkkos know that you’re using their images?

Edit: looks like the website, at least its products, have been pulled. I can’t seem to pull up anything now.

1 Thank

Can you you show me one single product coming from you? Please? Just one?

2 Thanks

Because they don’t have enough own products, their website now shows each remaining model multiple times. :joy:

It has been more than a week since problems were pointed out, and it still hasn’t been resolved, and the responses so far don’t seem like Aurora-Max is taking it seriously, or understands what the problem even is.

I pointed out a very distinctive, unique Olight product that Aurora-Max claims to make and sell. It did not get removed. Instead, somebody changed the product name, and it is now listed repeatedly instead of just once.

This is not the behavior of someone who actually cares about truth or honesty.

“International standards” is a funny way to say “not lying”. Maybe egregiously deceptive business practices are less frowned upon in Shenzen, but if you’re reaching out to western audiences (especially in places like BLF and reddit where experts and enthusiasts gather), people are not going to tolerate it.

We are not affiliated with Olight, Sofirn, or Wurkkos, and we have never claimed to manufacture their products.

… except for that one time, like a week ago, when you made an entire web site claiming to be the manufacturer of a bunch of products from those companies, and photoshopped your name onto some of them to make the lie less obvious. Then spent a week saying it’s fixed when it’s not fixed. The site still presents some of their products as if they were Aurora’s.

Aside from that, I don’t think you’ve claimed to manufacture their products.

If you hire someone to make a site, and they do it, and then you publish it, and you advertise it… you’re responsible for it.

it was not caught before launch because we did not conduct a thorough enough image review

It wasn’t hard to spot the problems. They were hard to miss. It took just a few seconds to notice, because they were featured very prominently, and included several of the most famous, most distinctive products from major brands.

… and the problem wasn’t the images. It was the deception. Listing fake products, photoshopping a different brand name onto them, presenting them as things your company created, etc. That doesn’t happen by accident. That takes a conscious effort.

If any infringing evidencecontent remains … please flag it directly

I don’t think that’s going to happen, for a few reasons:

  • The site doesn’t have a mechanism to flag content.
  • It is not the community’s job to clean up messes like this.
  • This seems like damage control, asking people to report everything in private instead of exposing deceptive business practices in public. But “in public” is the appropriate place for this sort of thing.

Aurora is a real company with real products.

If you have to say that out loud, something has gone horribly wrong. This all could have been avoided by just being honest from the beginning, and not filling your site with fake or stolen products.

But now, even if aurora-max is the same company as szaurora, and even if some of the products are real, it’s going to be incredibly difficult to convince anyone to buy from Aurora. The way you’ve chosen to introduce the company did a lot of reputation damage, and that is not easy to repair.
