GE upgraded its awesome 8D cell LED lantern again. I just picked one up at Costco and the price still remains the same $20 of its predecessor. Its a real steal for the price and is noticeably brighter than the first and second version I linked above. The modes are now much better spaced, which was about the only gripe I found with the earlier versions. I couldn’t find a pic online of the new version, but I’ll take some comparison pics and get some ceiling bounce lux comparisons later.
The remote phosphor technology of the emitter cuts down on a good bit of glare, which all other LED lanterns in this lumen category Ive seen are notorious for. So it should be suitable at a picnic table without blinding everyone in the vicinity and still light up a decent area.
