and how many amps?
I do like AlexGt’s setup, you can use a few 6s1p lipos, they can more than defiantly handle the discharge

that single 1kg pack has 3.7*7*5.8=150 watt hours in it and would work real well
here is a picture of the power supply, i will assume its constant voltage

Sadly it will not work because its a switching power supply. When you try to start up the motor the amp draw will be too high the the protection circuitry kicks in and shuts down the adapter.
I was hoping to power an accucel 6 or 8 with it, not the mower
The operating voltage of the charger is 11 to 18v, that one wouldn’t work, try a PC power supply
I happen to have a pair of SLA UPS batteries just like the original ones you posted. Not sure of the exact specs, but if you’re interested I’d photo them after I get back from work.
IDK if I could even ship them to you, but they’re mostly in my way since I gave up on making an electric dirt bike for SWMBO…
PM me if you’re interested…
Dim
(PS: SLAs are surprisingly resilient. Maybe you could try a DeSulfator to revive them while you work out the LiIon details…? I’ve done this for car batteries a couple of times & it seemed to work OK.)
PM incoming
These batteries have been sitting dead for presumably 7 years, they are dead as the dodo
I have no way to know if even the motor still works, i can only assume it does
grab a couple of car batteries in series and find out if the mower still works first.
good idea, i only have one battery though
Do you have a UPS, you could steal that battery for the test.
I do not ![]()
If you just want to test if it is working then 12v should still get it spinning. DC motors are good that way they just go slower.
Really, so if i hook up the car battery it should spin and not cause any damage?
Thats a lot of work and wires i don’t have at the moment, but worth trying i suppose
I was considering getting one 6s with a hobby charger, i want the charger for other uses anyways and one battery is about $40, i’m sure i can find a use for it somewhere, its not in stock currently, i’m going to guess a month or two to be replenished.
I wish i had a power supply for the charger though, since the laptop one is too high voltage and i don’t have a computer power supply handy i’m still missing a piece of the puzzle.
I am almost tempted to just go the simple order the lead acid form the company route, its only my despise of lead acid that prevents me from doing it.
I'm not that good with electronics but from my experience with electric bikes if you lower the voltage it just goes slower. The hobby chargers are great and I use one to charge my 32650 batteries and protected cells that are longer than my regular charger will handle. They also allow discharge testing as you know. As far as wiring it couldn't you just use some jumper cables to momentarily make the connection for testing? Good luck!
Right, i never thought of that, thanks ![]()
