There are surprisingly few knives between these two sizes. The Ganzo 704 is every bit as large as the Enlan EL-01. There seem to be two classes of Chinese budget knives and there are very few that are larger than the EM-01 yet smaller than the EL-01.
I own a few in your requested size range. The Navy K-507, K-607 and Bee L-04 and L-05. The Bees are not G-10 but there is a G-10 version.
The K-507 is like a large SRM 710 or 707. The K-607 is a totally different knife than the rest. I love mine but the ergonomics may not be for everyone. It’s a copy of the Spyderco Lil’ Temperance so you can look up info on that to get a better idea of what it is like.
Between the two Bees, I strongly prefer the L-04 over the L-05. The 04 has tip up carry, flipper blade with finger guard, more streamlined handle, and mine is tighter and smoother than the L-05.
Really? I thought the L-06 was ugly but to each their own.
The Navy K-502 has a few big advantages to the Bee L-06. The K-502 is full flat ground which means it will slice better and is often easier to sharpen and keep sharp because of the thinner edge. It also has a hole in the blade for ease of opening, I strongly prefer that over a stud. They are both tip down which is not as handy as tip up but not a huge deal.
The navy has a compression lock verses the liner lock of the Bee. Some people would consider the compression stronger but I am not one of them. Basically a compression lock is Sypdercos answer to the question nobody was asking. Following Benchmades amazingly successful Axis lock, Spyderco decided they needed a proprietary lock of their own. The result? A backwards and upside down liner lock mounted to the back of the handle. It is ambidextrous in the sense that neither right handed people or left handed people can use it with any ease.
Medium class? I'm with you on that it has to be closer to 18cm than to 20 cm. My standard recommendation is still the Bee/Enlan L02 with G10 scales and a deep-carry pocket clip. The M-class of Enlan/Bee is too small and so is the 700-series of SRM (most are around 16 cm). Most L-class knives and the 900-series are already closer to 20 cm, which I would already put in the Large class... the EL01 being Extra Large.
What about the Bee L01 (19,5cm). It exist in three handle versions: Black G10 (nice - gave one to a freind as a gift), black/white Micarta (looks good) and red Micarta (do not like the color).
