Red XP-E vs red XP-E2

Looking at these pair for red LED throwers.

I’m not seeing what advantage the XP-E2 has apart from a 5 degree tighter viewing angle.

Looking at running them with around 1.5A

Am I missing something here?

This may be of some help.

Thanks, much appreciated.

I’ve put these in a few hunting lights, and 1.4a works pretty well. Make sure you are using copper mcpcbs, and have a good thermal path.

In the same thread MRsDNF the order codes come up (#55). The takeaway is that for second gen (XP-E2) you want to see XPEB in your order code on Mouser/Digikey/whatever. You may already be all boned up on that but I thought I'd go ahead and mention it since I had trouble with it initially.

Cheers. Looking at Cutter.
