Reintroducing Ceilingbounce - flashlight testing and runtime graphs for Android

Both of them are using the front camera, makes it easier to see what’s going on actually.

Going to have to locate a other phone instead, might try another Samsung if I can find one.

Older models had a dedicated brightness sensor next to the camera behind the glass.

Some phones with dedicated light sensors have an issue in the driver that causes the reading to remain constant unless there’s a large change. I think they’re trying to keep auto-brightness from fluctuating, but the light sensor driver is absolutely the wrong place to do that (the auto brightness code is the right place).

I know it’s the driver because I put PostmarketOS (non-Android Linux) on one such phone and its light sensor behaves normally.

Makes perfect sense based on what’s occurring. Trying to find a spare phone that works so that I don’t have to keep mind in a box, the search continues.
