Review: Convoy C8 Clear (XP-L HI, 1x18650)

mine blinks x=2 and y=2 with a 3,76v battery.

Biscotti doesn't work like "n.nn". It blinks 1 to 5, 25% increments where 5 blinks is over charged.

correct ,with 4.05v battery i get 4 blinks.thanks.

I am curious about this Biscotti UI, is it Gearbest exclusive (written by ToyKeeper by any chance)?
Additional features not found on a regular 105C chip?

Yes, of course. It was TK and Simon hooking up, not GearBest. GB just resells Simon's Convoy lights. Anyone can download Biscotti source, and a txt file describing it's usage. It's in her repository under Bistro.

GearBest and AliExpress are selling the same Clear C8 with the new UI, DTP, AR glass, 8*7135. Last time I checked the version Banggood were selling only had 6*7135.
The below thread has the background on the clear C8 and new UI.

I forgot about the X-ray we have at work. Thanks for reminder and I will also X-raying my lights  It’s an industrial machine to check PCB solderings.
:+1:

I have to laugh at x-rays becoming a valid flashlight inspection tool

Looks like I’ve started a trend. This image was taken using 50kVp, 5mAs, 110cm SID and Trixell Csl digital detector with 143 micron resolution.

I thought about a few times but forget every time I had a light with me. Thank you for remembering me! Some things you only can see with X-ray and when assembled.

Thanks for the correction. My mistake. I actually prefer the 25% per blink method.

My copy of this flashlight is great, I like everything about it apart from a few dust particles on the reflector from the factory, which was easily rectified.

Thanks for your (and TK’s) input into this and other Convoy lights. The new UI is a huge improvement.
I’m looking forward to future new Convoy lights!

Thank you for the detail review.
I really appreciate and make me buy one for me.

Hi StephenK
I’m thinking of gifting one of these to a mate of mine who has a 16acre property who could do with something that lights up 200 metres but the question I have for you is the beam…. Is it more pencil or does it give good spill too at that distance?
Looking at that image id say yes but what’s it like to the eye?
Regards
George

There is some spill, but the spill beam only illuminates a much shorter distance. I’ll post a video in a few weeks to show real world use. My first attempt was too shaky.

I look forward to it

Brisvegas.

That’s not even in Queensland.
Though I do follow the Bronc’s to missus Cowboys.

Get up here to Yeppoon. Look out over the Islands.

We are the bottom end of Queensland going North.
You lot just an outer ’burb of NSW.

Gawd. U got that Palujet?
Union loving labor bitch down there.

Puuuleeez keep her there.

Love your posts on these torches.
A fairly new hobby for me.

I soldered my first tail cap spring today.
It didn’t fall offf yeayyyy.

Anyone know if the 7135*6 (2.1A?) version can run continouously without overheating?

I got a 3 chip S2+ with the low/med/high not changeable mode and really like it. My 4 chip jaxman gets a little hotter than I like.

In normal use (where your hand helps serve as a heatsink) as opposed to stationary tests, even the 7135x8 version comes pretty close to continuous running without overheating.

Compared to tube lights, the larger head provides a bigger heatsink, as well as a larger surface area for dissipating that heat through radiation and convection.

Stephenk, another great review. I love that X ray of the light and also the beam shot you took. Are you into photography as a serous or pro hobby as well?
