Ugh I want to buy this but don’t know if I can accept the UI…is there any other single cell light that can sustain lumens as well? I’ve checked out the other common brands but don’t see anything.
The Thrunite TC20 V2 stabilizes at 2000 lumens. There is a review here with some testing: Captcha
Might want to watch for a good sale though. At one point they were going for $62 and right now it is $80 “on sale”
The Zebralight sc700d also gets good numbers, but the beam is pretty floody. If you are at all concerned about throw it probably isn’t the best choice. And it’s $120
Yeah, I recently bought a TC20 V2 during a great (real) sale on Amazon, and it does sustain around 1800 lumens for about two hours, at least. Great quality light, and I like the UI, modes, and neutral white tint. The TC20 V2 also weighs only 143 grams, without a cell, and is only about 119mm (4.6 inches) long.
Very nice review, Dave. Thanks. I always wonder how good reviewers plan to use a light, compared to their others. Helps put all the data in perspective.
I hope we see some 26800 from Convoy. This host seems like a good place to start.
Thanks for the suggestions. I forgot about the 700d but it’s calling my name. Not quite as much sustained output but a great UI. I have a 600w Mkiii from 2015 and it is still a great light. Mostly used as a night light and it’s so efficient I forget the last time I charged the battery. The XHP35 is unfortunately rather green but very bright and the PID works flawlessly.
I have the original M3 which is a nightmare, plagued by tail cap issues and a buggy UI, half the time I take it out to use it it doesn’t seem to work which is such a shame as the host is a real beast and capable of so much. This version seems like a nifty update and I’m assuming it’s improved on those things. The 1500 lumens high mode I really think could be improved on, the thrunite TC20 doesn’t have the same heft and can put out 1800-1900 lumens without over heating, hence I think this version could manage around 2000 lumens or close to it for 30 minutes+.
Anyone familiar with the driver? I’m not sure looking at it from pictures where the current sensing resistor is. I ordered a M3-C and would like to get it a little over 6 amps to the LED. I’ve got the M3 and their not the same. Also have the 26800 extension coming with it.
