Review Request for HKJ: Orbtronic 3100mAh 18650s

I've bought 5 (#3) so far and am very happy with them.

Looking forward to the tests.

I remember CGR18650D, I think it was 2006. 4.9A was max discharge.

Maybe 2007? 2008?

Forgot how to read the date code but I think they're 2007.

Erm, 2007, 2008? Where are all those "conspiracy theorists" that say Li-Ions lose half of their capacity in 2 years even when unused? :P

Looks like Panasonic did great job on those CGR18650D's.. I wonder which modern cells would last as long? NCR's? Sanyo's 2600 mAh ones?

Well, it is Panasonic as previous poster said.

Right now they rule 18650 world.

I cannot wait to see 4000mAh Panasonic 18650 (expected in the end of 2013). Now when they have Sanyo under control we sure can expect top performing 18650 batteries.

I just saw this thread for the first time and wanted to point out that graph is of a new 2250 versus two old AWs. A later test of a new AW showed a more even/fair comparison.

See here.

I'm also not comfortable with calling the 2250 an IMR.

Title : CK HD vs. AW IMR

It was very interesting to read comments about this test.

To finish with "IMR", "not IMR"

A quote from a Panasonic Press Release :

"Panasonic has introduced a new high rate lithium ion cell CGR18650CH. The cell’s Nickel Manganese-based cathode material delivers higher discharge rates and better energy density and voltage than comparative cells. CGR18650CH cells are suitable for multi-cell applications." ...

I agree, because its not a traditional IMR cell.

An IMR cell is a cell with a Manganese-based cathode. So a true IMR cell would be LiMn. The CGR18650CH has Managanese, Nickel AND Cobalt. This is LiNiMnCo.

That's why "HYBRID IMR" is printed on CGR18650CH 2250mAh cell.

This thread was about Orbtronic NCR18650A Protected 3100mAh battery cell.

Oh really is it?

+ CGR18650CH -

Li-ion MH12210

I don't see "hybrid IMR" being mentioned anywhere here.

Would you please start a new thread, about IMR.

This thread is about Orbtronic 3100mAh 18650 (or at least it was).

Thank you
