Any chance we could talk the engineer into reconsidering?
(Wurkkos FC11C 519A reincarnation has been receiving good press for that very reason)

The highest regulated mode on this light is ~4-5W, that should be absolutely no problem for a very cheap buck chip.

If Sofirn worries about the turbo brightness and wants to sustain it for specsheet values, they could always do a buck + DD FET turbo driver.
