Review: Sunwayman D40A 4xAA XM-L2 Flashlight

I’ve had a D40 for a few years now. White is an excellent AA 4 cell flashlight, It’s been a shelf queen for most of it’s life.

If you have to have a 4 cell AA flashlight, I’d look for one without a battery carrier. But that’s just my opinion. If you have no problem with that, then the D40A is a good choice. One other thing to consider, I read that a couple of people experienced cracked switch membranes. I’m not sure how common that is. But since I haven’t used mine much, the switch membrane on mine is still perfect.

While you asked me what my preference is, I prefer single cell 18650 flashlights. They are what I use most. Again, it’s my personal opinion.

Cracked button cover on Sunwayman D40A

Hey peeps, long time reader (which is how I ended up with a D40A!) but first time poster. My D40A is about a year old, but the plastic buttons have cracked, and they now allow water ingress… The torch was acting very strangely the other day after a stint in the rain, and when taking the battery cartridge out, I noticed it was wet inside. Not good. The metal pushbuttons below the plastic seem to have very sharp edges, which I think has contributed to the cracking of the plastic. Has anyone else…

Thanks for the info, I’m going to pull the trigger on the D40A, it seems so well rounded and the button cracking doesn’t worry me to much because I can replace it.
