Interesting concept…tempting. I’ve been using butane irons when I need portability. Those have the MAJOR drawback of having no real temperature control, however I rarely need that for what I’m using them for. The other thing I use the butane irons for is heat shrink tubing (the exhaust area works great for this).

Edit/Update - ok, I was able to just walk in to HD and just buy the battery & station off the shelf, even though the website implied I couldn’t get it for a couple weeks. Not sure what’s up with that.
Also, the OP is just asking about the soldering station, but the deal is good for almost any ONE+ tool combined with the batteries, so if you don’t want the station but want a saw or something, you could still jump on it…
