Sanyo 2600 Mars Fire batteries have arrived for testing

It'll be interesting to see if the cells are really Sanyo.

Testing has started ..

Interested in hearing your results as well.

So these are 2600's and not 26650's? Are they any good?

2600 refers to capacity (in mAh), not dimensions (26650 = 26*65 mm cylindrical cell).

They indeed are good, possibly even best for single-cell flashlights.

Though not any better than the XTAR 18700's which also use Sanyo cells and cost less?

That’s true, yes. Xtar 18700’s are a better deal, at least at the moment.

Well , so far looking very good ..

Turnigy Accucell 8150 is not nearly as (accucell / as in accurate) as one would have hoped .

I calibrated it for 3s cells , but on single cell (3.7) its out a good 2.5 to 3 tenths of a volt less than actual battery voltage resulting in early termination 3v

But not to worry , the 1A discharge was still some what good ..

Just started the 2A discharge ... Ive switched over to Nimh setting to adjust for the inaccurate voltage reading

Try 0.1A discharge - is it still showing smaller voltage than actual battery voltage?

If not, there's something with high resistance in your path to the battery. If you used something like 1x18650 holder from DX with wires as thin as hair, that could be the reason.

Ive calibrated it to match the voltage of my 3s battery packs ..

But the voltage is still out on a single cell ..

Old4570: Another strange thing. Manafont is releasing this Sanyo 18650 in semi-clear wrapping with no capacity (over)claims. I agree with you this is a promising trend, however then they list this MarsFire 26650 in Trustfire-esque wrapping with inflated capacity of 5000mAh. I want to trust Manafont (No really, I do), but inconsistencies like this make it hard.

Sorry if that's Off Topic...

Two more MarsFire at Manafont:

Any ideas about the cell?

(just guessing) 3100mAh - Panasonic NCR18650A, 2600mAh - Sanyo UR18650F

Seems suspiciously cheap for real Panasonic 3100's.

Well, FP sells NCR18650A’s for $7.67/pc (if buying 10 or more),but that includes shipping expense, so I’d guess Manafont can get them even lower ($6/piece or so), which’d explain the low(est) cost.

Or they could be B-grade / failed QC cells..

Manafont is a retailer , they quote the manufacturer , and sell what ever sells …

Which is why reviews are important .. [ Some first hand experience ] , would be nice if every single battery available could be tested ... and cross referenced ...

Hmmm, wonder if that 2pc set will be the next best budget buy for 18650's? Two for $11 for protected Sanyo 2600's don't sound bad. Wonder how good that PCB is.

I see no mention of Sanyo ? I would expect these to possibly be ? I dont know , but possibly , Chinese cells .

ANd the wrapper is a little too attractive , hmmm !
