people are discussing light they want vs lights offered. we need separate post to discuss what we want and leave this one to discuss the offered ones
i like these SWM but they are costly - once i see the final price i can make a choice.
IDK who has any experience with these are they worth the money - they look good ... good UI etc ...but ??
anyone want to start a post/poll of which lights we would like offered post a link
also i understand DD has some bad rep and people here dont want us to get ripped off. I REALLY appreciate that , i do. but i would say be careful posting.
you know what the site is and buying from HK/CHI
better yet start a post to discuss it in depth or a specific point
The V10a price is great. Seriously I can't believe people are criticising it, I understand it wasn't the best choice for them to offer to a budget forum but people were asking for it and I do not see how anyone can expect them to sell a fully variable sunwayman for less than $60 when there are others paying over $100 for it. I am one who also can't afford it even at the greatly reduced price, but quit complaining.
I recommend the Trustfire TR-3T6 (3 cell version) or another go on the Fenix E21 since I missed that one last time.
It seems to me it is best for them to offer 'budget' versions of higher named brands many on here wouldn't otherwise consider but can be brought into the right price bracket with the help of a promotional discount. Fenix E series and Jetbeam B series seem ideal candidates..
At manafont, who are a good base rate for 'cheap' chinese prices a TK50 retails at $85. The V10a is $84, that price on the TK50 is a little better comparatively but maybe they had greater profit margins already on that. The V10a was already on special offer, so asking to half a special deal price is not the same as asking them to halve a normally priced product.. The deal for the V10a is the best they can do according to their own rep, and with free shipping included, I believe that.
OK, after mention C10A model, I checked the specs. Very similar to V10A, 3 mode + "hidden" strobe and cost 15 bucks less. I will be very happy with it aswell :D (90x21 mm, Nitecore D10 size, so quite small AA light)
Basically the V series is variable control? So you're spending $16 more if you're looking for that feature. Otherwise they're essentially the same light. Seems about right.
Oh I'm not questioning the value. I was trying to t understand and explain the differences. I'm still contemplating whether I want to invest in a decent variable control light. To be honest, I don't mind the flashlight telling me which level of brightness I'll use. If I have 3 modes then I won't need to bother fiddling with adjusting a few lumens. But whatever the base price I do think $16 is definitely fair for the variable feature.
Just to weigh in here...the SUNWAYMAN V10A looks awesome, but dude its a $63 USD single AA I cant afford that its kind of expensive...this is the BudgetLightForum...maybe try to have an offering at a lower price point for some other people here too...
Regardless thanks to all for the contributions and suggestions, Im sure you guys will decide on the best light at the best price...
Its a very good forum in general here, lots of great info to read up on.
Let's all remember that the two Sunwayman lights originally offered are already set as low as they'll go and aren't being offered as the group buy anymore.
