Should We Blame SureFire Success For This Mess?

outdated LED, non compatible with 18650, way too over priced.

offering forever warranty on flashlight? oh come on, flashlight is part of the technology, new stuff keeps coming out every year, not like knives, tools, batons and guns. flashlights are just like phones, computers, you gonna buy a new and brighter one soon anyway

they aint gonna give forever warranty old bulb torch arent they

Keron;

The “way overpriced” is probably why they can give a “lifetime” warranty. Most lights used by the professionals will be retired after a year or three and a pros light will need a replacement while being repaired, helping guarantee a second sale if the individual is a SureFire fan. Plus they are no longer warrantying lights obviously damaged by being run over, obviously used as hammers etc. Plus the incandescent bulbs are not warrantied that I know of. That per a CPF thread post I read IIRC. Plus groups who buy massively are likely to set up their own repair depot for the lights as probably the commonest failures will be simple switch and module replacements on the P60 lights and you can probably teach a chimpanzee to replace those parts. After all the rest is just a glass lens and machined aluminum parts.

As for 18650 compatibility most large organizations still prefer to use primary batteries.

I thought the mess you meant was all the chinese lights with strobes and blinkies that annoy most of us. Not sure that Surefire was the first to introduce them.

Also the original company founded in 1979 was Laser Products Corporation. The first Surefire named product in 1985 was a handgun mounted light. The company name was changed to Surefire LLC in 2000. The use of xxxxfire names is the Chinese adoption of the standard American business practice of using similar brand names. How many American sports teams named after birds? Vehicles named after animals? Movie sequels? Video games? No blame - Imitation is a fact of American business life because it earns money.

I’m workin’ on it!!!

Ah-ha! A supporter of the “Uranusfire branding” for the BLF light poll thread! :wink:

I guess some manufacturers in Chine are already making CornFire branded flashlights after the tremendous success of NiteCorn. :bigsmile:

What is the story behind nitecorn?

Its a charger brand offered by Minos here. Unfortunately it became a target for mockery. :slight_smile:

reading it now, plenty of popped, corny and cobbled up jokes :bigsmile:

Bridgestone owns Firestone now.

:P

I still smirk at the Uranusfire name. Out of all the xxxfire lights i have ( and had) there are an handful i really like and still use randomly. Namely the Ultrafire 501 & 502 series, Uniquefire G10, and a few more. I have an older Surefire, and no doubt its built well, but its dated and many of the other brands & models i have (Sunwayman, Nitecore, Fenix, Olight, etc.) are built just as well and have better features and usability.

I have several SupFire lights as modified by RMM and they are excellent lights with very good LED heat sinking on the M6 and L1 models according to Richard. Excellent lights for the price IMO. Just because a Chinese flashlight brand name ends in “Fire” does not mean they are bad lights or clones of others. From a design and construction standpoint the TrustFire TJ-20 and TR-S700 are a couple of the heaviest duty and heaviest LED flashlights made.
