I’m not looking to run leds within spec
ie a driver to run a xpg2 off 3 to 6 18650s or 8xaa at 5.1 to 6a

Haven’t tried it myself, but for XM-L2s and XP-G2s, the LD-1 driven with a single cell.
Myself, for XP-G2s and XM-L2s, I found resistor modding an LD-29 has worked ok. For an MT-G2, I have been resistor modding the stock driver that comes with a Dipper D19. I have mentioned previously that I do have a couple of LD-4B drivers from intl-outdoor.com, but I have yet to use them. If I were to use them, it’ll probably be for a small project (ie. using a small host like a P60 or Eagle Eye X6) coupled with an MT-G2.
Sadly with the older posts a lot of the links seem to be broken or the products no longer exist.
I haven’t spent alot of time modding lights yet, my gear is more towards automotive and networking so dont really want to be soldering pcb’s that small.
would prefer from the factory style if possible.

would like to drive arround 5.5a into a xp-g2 and run it flat out for atleast 30min for my first light.
I’m going to try out a few different leds see how they go in the future. But you have to start somewhere.
