SMALL SUN ZY-777

Picked this one up a few days ago and just wanted to share some pictures and info.

Battery: 3 D-cell
Switch: Sideway, reverse clicky
Modes: 1
LED Type: Cree Q5
Lens: Glass lens
Reflector: Smooth plastic
Tailstands: Yes
Price: $16.34 from http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/small-sun-zy777-cree-q5-led-flashlight-3xd-p-7525

Disassembly was pretty easy, but threads were dry and two o-rings destroyed

Screw in pill could have been a bit bigger, but for this emitter it's more than enough.

20 mm star forced in

"Driver" is just a simple resistor, to small value to measure but seems to be 0.22 ohms from the colour code.

This is how the switch looks like inside with one off the tabs missing.

Couldn't resist replacing the switch button to a GITD

Beamshot, mouseover for Manafont 3-mode XML drop-in.

Forgot to take a good picture of the low quality plastic reflector, it's full of ugly marks.
There is some minor marks and scratches on the body as well but nothing major.

Thanks for review, still waiting mine to arrive.

It looks like it´s a bit on the throwy side? Did you measure current?

This with maybe low-driven R5 (or perhaps no change at all, just driver) and diffuser could be just about right for long runtime, cheap, leave-in-a-car -light!

Yes there is a very tight hot spot so probably pretty good throw.
Current will depend a lot on your batteries, this table is with my bench supply (no voltage sag).

V mA
3.0 110
3.2 220
3.4 310
3.6 480
3.8 690
4.0 890
4.2 1112
4.4 1430
4.5

1600

Oh! thanks for sharing

I was searching a 3x alkaline cell light with dummy driver board for a mod.

Please! can you put the product link? Can not find in a normal search at mana font...

Also.... the switch is replaceable? is similar to the ones sold at DX?

Thanks!

Added product link in the first post.

Don't think I have seen any similar switches but there is a lot of room so you could probably fit your own type of switch. I just replaced the rubber boot.

Thanks, I have seen now the link. The switch is common type and can be found at DX or other chinese retailers. Good

I bought 3 cheap alkalines, all at 1,60V and got about 1,18A from them.

Estimates probably 10h and some of runtime...

Quite throwy but mine has a bit "dirty" hotspot.

O-ring was broken already in mine too. Quite lightly build but yet for the price, this is about what you would expect.

I would say e decent host for modding, plenty of room to do things.

Tested with a little walk... The throw is actually not that bad at all.

Possibly the cheapest D-cell thrower.

Woot lite .....$6.65 2 D q5 .....3 day shipping to boot .
