small sun zy-t13: aspheric xre (200k+ lux!!!) back from the dead!

thank you Sirius! I would maintain the driver because i’m not able to change it….so i could change only the LED to improve the throw  …and than i could maintain the side switch that i like to change modes!

yeah thats with the collimator.
still thinking about trying it with a de domed new gen emitter. got some 20mm noctigons on the way

when i checked amps at the emitter, i got 1.99a with two cells.

you should try 2x 18350 IMR in shorty config

i would if i had some. only thing i have is lifepo4 rcr123a
im constantly on the lookout for a new host for this head. id like one with no side switch and uses a standard size driver. would be great if i could find a host with a 17mm driver, 20mm star, and single 26650 that i could fit this head on… but doubt i will find something

id like to do the resister mod on the stock driver at some point, but the lowest ohm pot i have is 1k. so ill need to order some different ones, but im a slacker

Fair enough. Some effest ones on ebay if youre feelin froggy. that 26650 idea sounds good, but yeah, probly not very likely unfortunately.

so i was just checking the lux with the stock head, and found the spare dx aspheric for the crelant head. its a little bit smaller than stock, so it wants to go off center. even with it centered, i lost about 10k lux with the dx lens, even though it looks better made

im sure if i bought a few more, each one would give different results and find one that fits and focuses perfect… but for now im going back to the crappy looking, pitted up stock aspheric that came with it

thank you Pulsar….i’ll have to look for an XP-G2 that supports this amperage!!..…but i still buy the small sun :~ …who sells the best?

looks like the xpg2 maxes out at about 2.6a, and not a huge boost in lumens from 2a, so i would say that using it with a stock driver in the zy-t13 would be fine. though i dont feel the zy-t13 has the best heat sinking, so try it at your own risk. worst that could happen i guess is loose a few dollars on an emitter.
i got mine from ebay for $25, just because i had a gift card for ebay. you can find them all sorts of places. i know wallbuys has frequent sales, and a lot of times they include this small sun. do some searching first. dont just buy from wallbuys because i say they have it, its your choice. they have kind of shady practices, though seem to ship fast and reliably….

ok… i could not leave well enough alone…

so i decided to dedome the xre, again J)
at 4 meters, im getting over 200,000 lux at 1m with this emitter. 200,752 lux at 1m to be exact.
just got 17,241 lux at 1m measuring from 4m with my ea4w for comparison, using 4 energizer ultimate lithiums

nice ugly rings on the wall, but im sure they wont be noticeable outside

edit: up to about 3,502 lux per dollar

that sick man.
now you need to do an xpg2 version

yeah, ive got some new boards on the way from intl-outdoor. two xp and two xm noctigons. but i didnt have the money to order any emitters, so i got to order some xpg2s and a few more xml2s sometime to play with.
