So I'm looking for another 14500 light....

That’s kinda where I was at, I’m fixing to order one. I was just wondering if anyone had one and felt it could suit my needs well enough lol. I reckon we’ll find out.

Thanks for the info Power! I’m not too concerned with actual emitters/centering and such, so long as it’s not horribly stupid. We shall take a chance.

Slightly offtopic, has anybody used the dxsoul site instead of the standard dx site? Any benefit there?

well if your light actually came with an XML2 I’m getting one immediately.

I found a similar light for slightly cheaper in case you haven’t order it yet

Haha, well in that case I’ll try to remember to post a pic of the emitter when it arrives so y’all can identify what it actually is lol

I was actually looking at the ultrafire too, I was thinking about getting both and seeing which worked better for me. No such thing as too many lights.

even cheaper here

I really should stop online shopping now lol

I wouldn’t recommend it.

Bulky and heavy for a single 14500-sized light. You could get a better 18650-based light in the same size package. Tailcap switch on mine died pretty quickly. Also, look at the photo on the DX site; definitely shows an XP-E style emitter. And wouldn’t be surprised to find that it’s one of the ultra-blue Cool-White tint counterfeits either.

Here’s my review:

Haha yeah, otherwise you’ll be done bought all the things.

Thanks for that review Keltex. I may still grab one anyway, too cheap not to lol.

While you are looking into other lights, how about the Thorfire TG05/TG06 options? Guarantee either of those would be better than the Ultrafire option…

I really wish I could get the TG05 as a standalone host. Like a AA-sized Convoy S6.

I appreciate the suggestion. They are kind of a give and take on what I’m looking for too, though. I haven’t quite ordered anything yet, still mulling over and looking around.

But be aware that only the Thorfire TG06 is 14500 capable, the Thorfire TG05 is AA only.
Maybe the Olight S15R currently on sale would fit at least some of the criteria, too: pocket clip, lumens, 14500, tailstands,… - but no tailswitch :frowning:
Just recently I’ve bought a LuckySun Mini30 at Gearbest. I’ve found a coupon code somewhere and it was not that expensive for such a solid light.
It has the same head as the Mini20 (see here: Review: Lucky Sun Mini20 from GearBest (1 x 16340) Pic Heavy , Pictures Fixed!) but with a 14500 battery tube.
The user interface is a bit strange. Together with a WindyFire IMR-14500 it’s very bright (on turbo).

ThruNite Archer 1A V2 NW
$29.95

465lm for nw version
560lm for cw version

I think zhishunjia in chinese means . " what an elephant leaves after a big meal ."

The only one i ever had was horrible .When they described the amount of throw the light had ...they were talking about how far you'd want to throw the light after you actually tried to use it . in my case ,the light had a lot of throw ......i wanted it very very far away from me .

*avoid the elephant dung

That thrunite archer has my interest, as does the fenix Ld11.

With the thrunite, does anyone know if the strobe will turn on by pressing the side button, with the rails with in off position?

Basically, I’m being this picky as I have an O-light M20 that has these functions, and is really like them in a smaller light. I carried the M20 for a couple years as an EDC, to the demise of many many pairs of jeans lol.

This!

Exactly what I was going to recommend. Fantastic light at a great price.

It will not, no. The tail switch is an On/Off only and when Off the side switch does nothing.

Gotchya. Thanks for answering that. I’m kind of leaning a bit more towards the fenix at this point since it has a higher output. They’re comparable in price also. Decisions…lol

Not sure where you heard the Fenix has higher output. My Archer 1A V2 NW does 459 OTF with a 14500 and over 200 on a NiMH. The Fenix LD11 is only rated as 300 OTF lumens on a 14500 and just 130 OTF on a NiMH cell.

The ThruNite lists for just $40 while the Fenix has a street price of $50. Plus the ThruNite is available in your choice of CW or NW. The Fenix is CW only. ;)

The listing I found for the archer was saying it gave out 180 lumen, so that’s what I was going off of. If that is incorrect, then that just makes my choice that much harder…

The 180 is using AA/NiMH. My sample did even more than that. On a 14500 it's nearly double that.
